A cold, early winter's night and Ooze & Tang's first night open again after having a refreshing break for Emily & Isaac, our wonderful hosts. We had missed them so were looking forward to seeing what they had to offer and we were not disappointed. We ordered a serve of the House Bread - it is consistently good bread and useful to soak up gravy and sauces during the meal! My wife ordered the Octopus and I ordered the Albany Sardines plus the Beef Tartare on Rosti. All tastily presented and the range of flavors were amazing. For our main meal, we ordered the Pork Jowl which had been roasted to perfection and the Crackling was fantastic - how Isaac prepares the crackling so well is a real credit to his artisanship as a chef. The Pork Jowl also had a sauce which certainly added another exquisite flavor to the dish. These dishes were all complimented by a 2020 Jilyara Heath Road Cabernet Sauvignon which is certainly a full bodied example of this wonderful variety of wine. I finished off with a Creme Brulee - another Isaac special - which rounded off our excellent evening. I can only recommend this restaurant - lovers of great food and an excellent cellar will certainly appreciate the offerings they bring to your table. Thank you Emily & Isaac for another...
Read moreThree people down south for a holiday in July and went to this restaurant which was close to where we were staying in Dunsborough. Ordered 4 small plates and 2 main plates plus one drink each. I understand that the menu regularly changes but all the food was lovely, with the standouts of the night were the poached muscles (small plate) and the Wagyu beef rib cap (we were able to have this with truffle slices). The muscles had a took in the olive and aioli flavor and were not at all rubbery, balanced nicely against the toast (homemade bread). The Wagyu beef rib was "melt in the mouth" and the three of us agreed that it was incredible value ($36 shared across three). The homemade bread was also lovely. Note the decor is absolutely to our tastes (using second hand everything) but may not be to others neophilic tastes.
Considering that we normally will do at least 2-3 "winery" restaurants when in the region that can cost through the nose for just "good" food or we will do a restaurant like Yarri or Blue Manna which are lovely but even more costly, this is a lovely, value for money (where else could in the region could we get away with ~ $60 a head including drinks?), accessible alternative that I...
Read moreGot recommended this place from my brother in law who lives in Busselton while me and my partner are on holiday in Perth and it did not disappoint! The best restaurant we have been to in WA by far.
Walked in without a reservation, and were seated by a member of staff straight away. The service was fantastic by them, and they really looked after us the entire meal.
We ordered the ceviche, and the pork tacos to start which were both delicious and light which set us up perfectly for our mains which were the wagyu beef in red wine jus and butter, the roast chicken with Nduja potatoes and salad, with some of the house made bread and butter. The steak was probably one of the best steaks we have ever eaten, cooked perfectly medium rare which went perfect with the delicious red wine jus, the chicken was so soft and juicy and cooked perfectly, and went really well the small salad and nduja potatoes, and the bread with butter was the perfect addition to mop up with!
We needed with the crème brûlée which was deliciously sweet and smooth, with that hard golden top.
Cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Just sad we don't have time to eat...
