Super disappointing 😩 We spent $100 in store and it was extremely average to straight up bad.

Custard Eclair & Fruit tart - the “custard” was green and tasted awful, holmsey bakery does delicious vegan custard so it’s doable and I have no idea why these were so bad but they both were. Hummingbird cake - dry and overpoweringly sweet icing. Ate about 1/4 and wasn’t worth finishing it. Lamington - ridiculously stale. Took 2 small bites and ditched it. Donut - these were okay. Taste was good but extremely oily. Cherry ripe - this was legitimately enjoyable. Donuts were $4 and the other desserts were all $6ish so we wasted a lot of money on them.

GF Peri Peri Pizza - upwards of $25 which was obscene. basically inedible. Ate 2 slices each person and then binned the rest. I don’t know if it was the sauce or the vegan cheese but something was so watery that the whole middle of the pizza was a wet slop but the outsides were almost burnt from trying to cook it longer. Overly spicy for a premade pizza. If it’s got chicken, why use vegan cheese 🤷‍♀️

Salad baguette - okay, nothing to write home about but wasn’t bad.

Gluten free loaf - extremely expensive. Tasted good.

Overall a super disappointing experience and I definitely won’t...

I've been gluten free for 17 years, and this is the best GF bread I've tasted. The only other place that comes close is Deeks in Canberra, or pales loaves in Me;Bourne (Judy's) and Perth (Honest Goodness). You have proper sourdough here, and the bread is not filled with high GI flour like white rice flour and maize flour, but much healthier floors like quinoa flour and buckwheat flour. The paled loaf is a cracker, but my fave is the sprouted quinoa loaf. The pies are also the best I've tasted, although I wish they would do a beef pie without onion in it as I'm sensitive to onions. They also do amazing rolls, but I find the cakes a bit sweet for my taste. I do recommend the date scones, though, and the pumpkin scones are very pumpkiny. It tastes like real food, and sits well on the stomach. Considering the quality, the price is...

Wow! Discrimination to the max at this place! Telling those who have genuine mask medical exemptions that they can’t come into their store! What complete idiots, using inflammatory statements like “it will kill us!!” If someone came into the store without a mask- get a grip! If a sniffle with a 99% recovery rate can kill them then they really shouldn’t leave their house. Even handling money, food, touching the door handle would “kill them!” I’d like them to show me proof of their “immune compromised conditions” sounds like lies for Karen level compliance.

Their bread is rubbish anyway! Overpriced, tasteless and dry! Better gluten free options out there. When WA finally joins the rest of the progressive world, this store will be remembered for being a...

This place is literal heaven for celiacs. The bakes are all SO good. Especially the donuts - we ordered two and ate them on our walk out then walked right back in and ordered 4 more. Their sandwiches? Next level. Even my gluten-eating boyfriend was wow’d. Bread is fantastic too. It’s honestly such a shame that a business that is simply trying to provide inclusive dining options for people who face immense difficulties eating out got review bombed by a bunch of anti-maskers. People should be ashamed of themselves. Strange Grains is fantastic ❤️

This is a great place for a coeliac, especially if they're visiting Perth and have been on the 'hard-to-source-freshly baked-gluten-free goodies' road for weeks to months. As have we! We opted for some grainy sliced bread, fluffy light lamingtons and sugar-free date scones, all of which were delicious. They even serve coffee here. Very reasonable prices too. The owner who took our order was delightful and happy to engage. We appreciated her attention and welcoming nature.

The shop front is standard old building. The inside is typical cake shop, you know cakes in a display case. But the cherry ripe slice is to die for. Cinnamon scrolls with coffee yum , bread sticks with a touch of peanut butter or honey heavenly. Chocolate and beetroot cake as a treat. For those with allergies to wheat, rye oats and barley and dairy this bakery is heaven. For those who choose to be vegan you will be in heaven also
