The accommodation has been turned into a "mine camp" for mine workers with odd rooms hired out to "guests".||You won't be able to sleep past 4.30am in summer because the curtains are paper thin and the bathroom window has no curtains at all. The door to the bathroom is transparent plastic so lets all the light into the bedroom.||Whilst many workers reverse their vehicles in at night many did not, so if you do manage to sleep through the light in your room, then the reverse beepers on the work vehicles will start to wake you at approximately 4.50am. Including Saturday and Sunday. Other workers were beating their work boots together at this time to remove dirt.||First day, tea & coffee replaced but bed left unmade. ||Second day, bed made but all bath towels and bathmat missing.||Stayed three nights and toiletries not replaced at all. ||Carpets are dirty. ||And the cleaners started cleaning rooms next to us before 7am on both Saturday and Sunday.||And whilst the mining dollars are rolling in, little or no effort has been put into...
Read moreAfter a very nice (but very pricey) meal at the Palace Hotel a few nights previous, we went to dinner at Charlotte's Bar and Bistro, at the Tower Hotel, pretty much across the road from where we were staying. I must confess that with the mixed reviews here on TA about the place, and it's unremarkable exterior, I was kind of dubious about going. But everything was excellent. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, service was quick and we had our meals in very good time and everything was delicious. I had the Nasi Goreng with chicken satay and that was very tasty; others at the table had the chicken parmi which was great and the steak sambo looked awesome with the steak itself still a smidge pink in the middle. We went there at 6pm and the place filled up as we were there, plus the local Rotary Club arrived for their meeting.||The outside of this place belies the inside. Warm, friendly, great food, great service, would go again if we...
Read moreStay here often for work purposes, including nightshift. Had mentioned to management that some rooms would be completely unsuitable for nightshift workers as they have transparent windows from bathroom outside windows. Also curtains are thin. Was promised they would audit which rooms are suitable for nightshift. Arrived after my first nightshift to be put in one of the unsuitable rooms, waited up until 8am for the issue to be resolved, and the best they could do was hang some rather transparent blankets up in the problem areas. Really professional!! Had suitable room available but they refused to move me into that room as it was a 2 bed room. On the plus side food is good. I'm not one to complain usually but this is completely avoidable, had they listened and put a system in place many weeks earlier...
