We ordered a custom cake from Coniston Bakery for a 30th. When the cake was picked up, it was not exactly as pictured, the icing was completely cracking and started looking really bad. (First 2 photos) At first the bakery did not do much to assist in rectifying this and the party was in 3 hours so I thought oh well, I will at least email them to let them know I wasn’t happy and thought, “Maybe ill get a partial refund”. Within a few minutes of the email, I received a call from Robyn who I can only assume is the boss / owner. She came to our house, picked up the cake, took it back to the shop, completely turned it around and dropped it off at our restaurant for dinner. This customer service absolutely blew me away. She went ABOVE and beyond!! I felt so defeated when we first got the cake and was embarrassed to serve it at the party, and she absolutely flipped that around and the cake was a hit. Super thankful for her efforts and the cake ended up being GORGEOUS!! 🤍🤍 (The second 2 photos) Thank you Robyn! (Also the cake was delicious!)

The chicken and veg pie. Where’s the chicken? Cardboard like think stodgy pastry. Congealed filling that was all cornflour and peas. Sorry to be so harsh. This is unacceptable. There are so many ways this could be so much nicer. I understand the cost of production and ingredients right now,it’s like you have cut every corner to produce a bad pie. if you can’t produce a quality product in a way that is cost effective, than you should not make it.

We had the plain pie, chicken and veggie pie and some Portuguese tarts. The plain pie was ok, the chicken and veggie pie tasted great and would have been a solid 5/5 if the bottom was more cooked. The dough below was really soft, barely cooked. A bit of a shame really. The Portuguese tarts were pretty horrendous, really eggy and I couldn't finish it. Coffee was hot and good.

Shame- only giving one star because there's no option for ZERO stars. $6.10 for a half soggy, ham, cheese and tomato sandwich, which had not even a full slice of ham on it in total, and 2 very, notably small slices of tomato on it. I wish I had taken a photo because honestly my words don't do the thing justice. Oh but they made sure to arrange it in a way that gave the illusion of a decently packed sandwich for the ridiculous price, hiding the soggy and skimpy side from view so customers could be ripped right off instead of getting their moneys worth. Mind you the sandwich itself was on a roll smaller than the size of my palm just about. Will not be returning ever, unless I want to be legally robbed again lol. They were so damn skimpy with the butter that I assume that's how the bread became soggy- too much of tight asses to butter the thing properly so their own customers aren't paying 6.10 for a wet sandwich thats barely even a...

The service was prompt but abrasive!

The staff member kept referring to the EFTPOS machine as 'she" after some failed attempts at electronic payment.

To top off the experience, when I got home half an hour later, I found the pastry I had bought was stale!

IThe pastry was a "french pastry" for which I paid $4.10. I was informed by the staff member that the icing was vanilla after I had asked for the passionfruit iced pastry (I have bought this type of pastry from Coniston Bakery a number of times over the past two decades and know for a fact that the icing contains passionfruit).

When I questioned what the little black bits were in the icing, I was told (after SM checked with someone out the back) that the black bits were pieces of vanilla pods (they were definitely passionfruit seeds). Based on this lack of knowledge of their own product, I am not sure I would trust this shop with any...
