Heritage Hotel Bulli — Restaurant in Wollongong City Council

Disorganised & under resourced. Went to see a band- sold out show but they wouldn't let us in to the band room at the advertised time unless we'd booked a table and dinner. Many people ordered dinner on arrival but had to eat it in the corridors as they hadn't booked a table. Staff clearly stressed and overworked, surely a venue with an awareness of the number of tickets sold could staff accordingly. They stopped taking food orders - which we were annoyed by but a blessing as that two groups near us didn't get meals for two hours. I pity the kitchen staff. There was no crowd control- or any sense of planning for a large audience- especially an older crowd who like to sit!people left room and came back carrying seats and stools. We popped in to see the new look bar - which has just reopened post a major renovation. The bar is vast - and lit up like a football field. Please turn the lights down - it felt v sterile and the glare actually hurt my eyes. At the moment it's not a place I'd return to - not helped by a truly awful glass of Pinot grigio and sports screens everywhere. On a positive note - the outdoor area looks better. And in summer could be a decent spot to have a beer. Kitchen not yet open but we were told the chef is coming from Headlands - which serves terrible food. So I can't imagine it's going to be good. Finally gave this place a go now that the kitchen is open and it didn't disappoint.

Ordered the schnitzel burger and the schnitzel with chips and salad. Both good portions, fresh and delicious. I loved the creamy dressing on the garden salad and the chicken was very tender and juicy.

The gravy could have been a little thicker but that's just personal preference. I would also ditch the newspaper, wooden board and deep fryer plating props as they are a little dated.

Will def be back to try other options on the menu and to take part in trivia. It looked so fun in...
