Only gave one star because I cannot give less.
After booking for a night on boxing day but having been caught up on the massive mini cyclone in Helensvale on Christmas night in which we sustained damage and flooding to our house which we had to repair on boxing day, we messaged the tavern to advise that if possible we needed to cancel as repairs were more important. My wife got a response from them saying so sad too bad it was a non refundable booking. Comment was made "we have had storms too!!!!" One could only assume that they had a bit of thunder and lightning and some rain without any damage as there was no coverage on any news outlets.
At no stage were we given the option of possibly changing the booking to another date.
The following day our other booking at The Lodge at Bellingen were extremely helpful in response to the same request giving a three month credit on our booking but Seaview made no such offer.
Un-australian to say the least. In this day and age a bit of compassion to genuine requests would not go astray. A simple google search would have confirmed our situation.
Let's hope they enjoy the $300 of easy money they collected without...
Read morePlease make sure you try this local gem. I visited this place because I read about having one of the best schnitzels nationwide here. Well, today it was far from the best. It was overcooked with tasteless crumbing drowning in a way too sweet mushroom sauce served with a salad on industry strength glue like dressing. Kudos for the Seaview Tavern marketing team for getting in the news. However at $19, it's good value compared to what's available in the budget Byron of the Mid North Coast affectionately called Woopi. The staff is very professional. They deserve praise for their meticulous ongoing Covid marshalling and making this place look very clean and safe, despite the antics of our careless cousins from the big smoke in the South with their hordes of unruly children. The meals took a bit longer than one is used to getting a schnitzel. Try Una's or Maggie's with a stopwatch. I will be back, because the menu looks exciting and it's difficult to get a decent steak under $40 in Banana'n'berry Wonderland here. You should give...
Read moreVery very impressed. We stop at the motel next door on our travels up from Sydney to Byron bay. We were tired hungry and needed a place good for the kids . Well.. the food - amazing! Not just your average pub grub.. like they go the extra mile. Good big portions but with no compromise on quality. We had the wings, lamb shank and the kids had spachetti and fish and chips and each dish was very tasty and good quality. The indoor and outdoor play areas are kept in good clean condition for the kids and us adults could relax while the kids played. That night they also happened to have an 80s throwback live band on that my husband stayed out for with the father in law and it was amazing! When I ordered a cocktail or 2 at the bar the staff were so enthusiastic and pleasant and offered to personalise my cocktail to suit my taste . Just brilliant. When we come back on the road trip to Byron in April we will be visiting again! Thanks guys...
