Two attempts to get their vegetarian baguette. First attempt came out with meat. I took it back and asked for their usual vegetarian baguette and stated I don't know how I got a meat baguette from a vegetarian request. I then decided, as my dog had smelt the meat, I'd keep the messed order and feed him from it. I then paid for the second attempt. The second attempt arrived and not their usual vegetarian baguette but a baguette with some cheese and basic salad. I was told all they had to do was 'get it from the back room '. Looks like they ran out and attempted to make one without a clue as to what to do. It appears they had run out of the item and are clueless as to what to do or how to make it. Appears some inexperienced staff today. Very disappointed and threw their second attempt in nearby bin! All round, terrible experience.

How funny a similar reply to all complaints, Bowens have. In response - it obviously wasn't easy to resolve as I had attempted TWICE to get the meal I ordered. You say you are a "small family business, doing our best" and note I must be a regular who has not left a positive review. This is all emotional deflection to remove yourself from a professional response and complain about a genuine complaint. I note you hit back exactly the same way to all who complain - it's virtually a script from you or is it a standard AI response that's generate? No matter what size business or who is the owner, that's all irrelevant. Your staff should know the product, if they are out of it and if they can't make it. I spoke to them and tried to resolve it and even paid for the mistake without complaint nor rudeness. Perhaps you better take professional responsibility rather than deflection from it in your responses. Who was there to complain to? The complaint wouldn't have gone further down the line and management certainly wouldn't know so there's no rectification of...
Read moreExperienced some dodgy pricing at Bowen's Delicatessen and Fine Foods today. Purchased some ham and it was incorrectly put through as a different, higher priced ham on the bone. When I advised the staff member it had gone through as the wrong product I was told both items were the same price, despite the displayed prices being different by about $8 a kilo. This being the case I requested and was given a refund. Despite it being a small value transaction, the owner was more interested in arguing the point rather than just refunding the difference and retaining my business. Given the poor attitude and arrogance displayed by the owner, I will not be returning.
EDIT: You may want to check your secret camera footage as your reply is full of misinformation. There was no offer of a refund, I had to ask for one. Wouldn't it just have been easier to honour the displayed price? It was not a simple mistake it was dodgy pricing. Show some integrity, don't try and flip this to make me out to be the bad person. To say ham was thrown at a staff member is simply untrue. To say you tried to amend is untrue. You could have avoided this poor review but you chose to exert your arrogance and argue the point over $0.80 cents, if that's what it was, and you...
Read moreBeing a tourist to the area, I was keen to checkout Bowen’s Deli. I was browsing looking at products, reading ingredients lists (due to dietary requirements within the family) and taking photos sending to my husband to see what he’d like. I had done one lap of the shop then returned back to the beginning to select what we wanted. The owners brother abruptly asked loudly in front of other staff and customers why I was taking photos, to which I replied sending to my husband to see what he’d like. He then remarked ‘You’ve been in the shop a long time’ and walked off out of sight. The owners brother should take a course in customer service and how to enact it politely. Such poor form on his behalf, however please note that the other staff I interacted with were polite and friendly. Also if there’s a time limit on how long customers can be in the shop this should be advertised to as customers we are aware of the terms and conditions of entry - note that 22mins exceeds this limit. Future...
