Yorkey’s Bakery — Restaurant in Yorkeys Knob

I’ve certainly done my fair share of travelling and wayfaring across this great brown island that we are all on, girt by sea. This means that I’ve been to my fair share of bakeries. Here is my review of their most important pastry, the vanilla slice.

Starting with the icing. Very decadent and sweet however very thick and honestly quantity wise a bit too much. I would recommend lessening the thickness of the icing and introducing a little bit of chocolate drizzle on top.

Moving to the essential now - the vanilla custard. Unfortunately very gluggy and like a wet marshmallow - not like custard. Needs to be thinner. This being said, the flavour is great and I enjoyed the taste of it.

The pastry was undercooked and soggy, making for an unenjoyable texture and an unsatisfactory initial bite. Again though, the flavour was good and contributed to the slice experience.

Overall, the vanilla slice from the Yorkeys Knob Bakery is ok, in need of some improvement but a solid foundation there.

Beautiful bread and bakery products also lovely friendly staff. Please remind staff that using tongs or the plastic of the bread bag is more hygienic than using hands. All of the staff do except one guy, I really don't think that's acceptable when handling the food I am purchasing. Please tell him that it is not good practice. I will have to say...
