Schafflinger Alm — Restaurant in Bad Gastein

Schafinger Alm offers an culinary cure for an exhausting day of skiing. A little walk from the central, the restaurant will greet with you with a sign in front of the cottage. The interior keeps the old wooden design with a lot of local decoration from farming and sports.

Services is top-notched (one of the best I have experienced in DA) Greeted and served by the most attentive and kindest waitresses - make me feel welcomed and been taken care of.

With regards to food, the restaurant offers marvelous local dishes with extremely reasonable prices (considering in ski resort / Austria). Warm pork roast served with (light) gravy is a perfect choice for winter day. Personally, I enjoyed the gravy and pork roast combo - tasteful but light - does not feel heavy or fatty in stomach.

I don't write reviews very often, but this place absolutely deserves it. It's a small family restaurant, with beautiful old-style mountain hut interior. The menu is small and everything is cooked fresh to order (you can find the menu written on a board on photos posted by other reviewers). Everything we had was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge. The cheese spätzle were absolutely incredible! If you want fresh, delicious food in Austria this is the place. The menu is full of great options, especially if you like vegetables, and it’s also perfect for groups. The atmosphere is cosy, warm, and pleasant, but let me be honest: the real highlight is the service.

Our blond, super-cute waitress was simply amazing. She has that rare talent of knowing exactly what you want even better than you do. Seriously, trust her advice, because it will be spot on (and you’ll be very happy you did). I usually think I know what I want to order… but clearly I don’t. She does.
