We walked in and got no greeting, maybe we were invisible? We spent the first five minutes patiently standing right behind a waitress who was busy serving another table right at the entrance of the restaurant. She walked past us several times, each time managing to not even glance in our direction. Even when we decided to sit down ourselves, she stuck to the script, fully committed to pretending we didn’t exist.
Ten minutes later, a waiter showed up and handed us the menus… so far, so good… sort of.
Then came the real challenge: waiting. Thirty-five minutes of pure meditation practice, no order taken, no water, no “we’ll be right with you.” Just the sound of our two-year-old repeatedly calling “Eat! Eat!” like a tiny, increasingly furious food prophet.
Eventually, we gave up and left. She was losing patience, and honestly, so were we.
