Madar Cafe Central — Restaurant in Gemeinde Melk

Cafe Central Melk is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The room is accessed by a dirty staircase beside their smelly, greasy kitchen. There is no noise proofing in the room and you can hear people yelling, dishes clattering, doors slamming, and all the restaurant noises. You can se they tried to provide some noise proofing by tacking some puffy yellow material to the door, but it didn't help. ||The room was shabby and stained. There was no hair dryer. The curtains were not large enough to cover the entire window, and after dark I wondered who could see me in the room. The bathroom was nice and updated but the shower water flowed onto the floor. I couldn't open the window for ventilation to dry the room because the mosquitos were too bad. ||There was no reception desk, just a woman sitting on a stool between the restaurant and the greasy kitchen. She was incredibly rude and started screaming at me when I informed her I would be spending one night instead of two. Literally screaming; it was humiliating. || If you're on a bike tour of the Danube, do not stay here because they do not provide a bicycle room. I had to leave my bike chained to a pole on the street and it was vandalized overnight. The entire stay was a...

We originally visited for a quick local dinner, and were greeted uninspiringly (should have known then)||Main course and soup was OK although well over priced (and we’re living locally for several months visiting family - we’re not breezing through without local knowledge)||Desert - Marillen knödel was forgotten, and when we asked about is the answer was - the. Her forgot, not my fault as I’m just the waitress - really, FFS|An iced coffee was also served as the other desert, separately - so I waiting 15 minutes while the other came, which didn’t.||It was then served - cold - then brought ba k again, allot in half, the same serve, heated with microwave - not a fresh serve||To top off, the house red wine was served and we returned it as the wine was off (btw, I’m a trained taster re wine and beer, as am a brewer by trade) - at least tv e replaced that||Also btw - the iced coffee is the worst I’ve had - out of 3 - this week, and the most expensive and disappointing (I couldn’t finish it)||Lastly - checked the menu board before we sat down, only to be told - Oh, that’s wrong, we have a new price list which we will give you know - the prices have changed and that board is wrong !!|Really ?||Will never come back and suggest no one else...
