Restaurant Feuer & Flamme — Restaurant in Ladis

Let's start with the positives. We had a great family dinner (dog included). Friendly welcome and considerate staff. Very nice surroundings. Also our dog got drinking water which we really appreciated. We knew the restaurant was on the expensive side but since we knew this upfront this was not a problem.

The negative: we left the restaurant with a negative feeling. When we got our bill the waiter started to explain (in german) that the mehrwertsteuer and Austrian taxes were not included. Probably the waiter thought Belgians do not understand German but most of us Belgians do :-) When the waiter understood that I didn't buy his explanation he turned to my wife and asked her to agree to round the amount to a higher amount. After having paid I read on the bill that we tipped for a certain amount. In my opinion this is very unethical behavior.

I must say the owner (I guess) proposed to give us the amount that we tipped back and he also offered us a schnapps to compensate for our bad experience. He also mentioned that it's not always is easy to brief all staff on everything. I don't think the waiter that took care of our bill was a newcomer however.

To be clear, we are all for tipping but only when we know we are tipping and not with some dodgy mehrwertsteuer explanation.

So in a nutshell, great evening in a nice surrounding but make sure your staff is not managing their tips in an unethical way. However thanks for trying to rectify and compensate for this...

The positive thing first - the staff was great and forthcoming, and the atmosphere was rustic, as expected. It got a bit smelly in the end because on one table people had Raclette.

So why only two points? The place is especially known for their fondues, so that's what we had. Even though the price tag was hefty - 36 Eur per person. What we got was pickles and cornichons out of the can and mixed fruit from the same source. Along with that a heap of white bread which looked like what you would feed to the ducks. The cheese "house mix" was ok. All together the value of all the components combined was at 15 Eur. You end up paying 72 Eur for... Well, I don't really know what for.

The others in the group were quite happy with their steaks but also found the price-value-relation questionable.

Unfortunately, if you go to Ladis, you will end up coming here because it is one of the few restaurants in the village. Good luck with your...

Wir waren vor 2 Jahren das erste Mal hier und eigentlich zufrieden. Nun stimmt hier jedoch das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht mehr. Wir wurden sehr nett an der Tür begrüßt, die Bedienung, die für unseren Tisch zuständig war, war jedoch sehr unfreundlich. Geschmacklich zwar in Ordnung, aber die Steaks wurden als Medium bestellt, waren jedoch eher Done. Der Service ist definitiv ausbaufähig! Wir haben keinen Wein bestellt, die Weingläser wurden jedoch nicht abgeräumt, was auf den kleinen Tischen ein Problem darstellt. Die heiße Platte wurde auf den Tisch gestellt und mit der Aussage, dass eine Verlängerungsleitung geholt wird, erst nicht angeschlossen. Erst auf Nachfrage nach 10 Minuten wurde sie angeschlossen. Die scharfen Messer für die Steaks kamen 5 Minuten nachdem die Steaks gebracht wurden. Wir hatten Soßen nachbestellt, die 10 Minuten auf sich haben warten lassen. Besonders in negativer Erinnerung ist uns geblieben, dass wir per E-Mail reserviert hatten und mit der Bestätigung der Hinweis kam, dass der Tisch nach zwei Stunden, also um 20:30 Uhr wieder für die nächsten Gäste reserviert sei. Um 20:10 Uhr wurde uns die Rechnung auf den Tisch gelegt mit der patzigen Aussage „Sie müssen jetzt bitte zahlen, die nächsten Gäste warten schon an dem Tresen.“ Dass die Gäste 20 Minuten zu früh sind, ist ja nunmal nicht unser Problem, wir hätten gerne noch eine Runde Getränke und einen Nachtisch bestellt. Früher zu bestellen war nicht möglich, da die Bedienungen die meiste Zeit nicht zu sehen waren. Insgesamt war unsere Zuständige Bedienung sehr unfreundlich und wir haben uns nicht willkommen geheißen gefühlt. An ihrem Umgang mit den Gästen sollte die Dame definitiv noch arbeiten! Außerdem sind die Tische sehr eng gestellt, was in anderen Restaurants in Hinblick auf Corona beispielsweise mit Trennscheiben besser...
