Restaurant Palstek — Restaurant in Sankt Gilgen

What a great little place. We really enjoyed our dinner here. The atmosphere is perfect on the harbour and the service staff are absolutely fantastic, really friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Happy to speak English with us. Food was great too. Fish tacos were delicious, the tempura was crisp and flavoursome. Trüffel pasta was to die for, pasta a perfect Al dente, full of truffle flavour and fresh Trüffel shaved on top. Beetroot risotto was ok, but tasted more like rice pudding than risotto probably because the rice was massively overcooked. The flavours work, but not as prepared. I'd suggest a reworking of this... More beetroot IN the risotto with the gorgonzola crumbled on top to counteract the sweetness of the beet rather than be absorbed by it and perhaps a gremolata of toasted walnuts, shallots, lemon zest and chervil to add some texture.

Great music just added to the lovely atmosphere. Wished we'd had room for dessert because they looked great. But we will be back, having just moved to the area, this will definitely be a regular haunt, can't wait to try...

Das ist der Ort mit dem schlechtesten Service, den ich je besucht habe. Wir, eine vierköpfige Familie mit kleinen Kindern, hatten einen Tisch zum Abendessen reserviert. Zu dieser Zeit schien die Sonne stark und es war sehr heiß. Viele schattige Plätze waren frei, aber sie ließen uns nur an dem einzigen Tisch sitzen, der in der Sonne stand und sehr heiß war. Ich habe mit der Bedienung gesprochen und gefragt, ob wir zunächst an einem schattigen Platz sitzen könnten, und falls alle schattigen Plätze vor dem Ende unseres Essens belegt wären, wären wir bereit, an den sonnigen Tisch umzuziehen. Aber sie sagten uns, dass wir nur an diesem sonnigen Tisch sitzen dürften. Ich fragte sie: Wir haben wie die anderen Gäste reserviert, sind sogar früher angekommen und haben kleine Kinder dabei – warum geben Sie uns den schlechtesten Tisch, während so viele schattige Plätze frei bleiben? Sie antworteten nur: „Ihr könnt nur an diesem Tisch sitzen.“ Ich rate dringend davon ab, dort essen zu gehen.

This is the place with the worst service I have ever been to. We were a family of four with young children and had reserved a table for dinner. At that time, the sun was shining and it was still very hot. Many shaded tables were available, but they only allowed us to sit at the one table in the sun, which was very hot. I spoke to the waitress and asked if we could sit in the shade first, and if all shaded tables became occupied before we finished our meal, we would be willing to move to the sunny table. But they told us we could only sit at that sunny table. I asked them: We, like other guests, had a reservation, we even arrived earlier, and we have such small children – why give us the worst table while leaving so many shaded ones empty? They simply replied: “You can only sit at that table.” I strongly recommend you do...

Ein Abend voller Genuss am Wolfgangsee

Gestern durfte ich im Restaurant Palstek einen dieser Abende erleben, die einem lange in Erinnerung bleiben. Das Essen war einfach großartig – vom knusprigen Taco mit heimischem Fisch über das cremige rote Beete Risotto, die herrliche Trüffelpasta und das feine Vitello Tonnato bis zur butterzarten Tagliata di Manzo war jeder Gang ein Genuss. Der Abend endete mit Tiramisu und Crème Brûlée, die einfach himmlisch waren. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich das herzliche und aufmerksame Team, das uns mit so viel Freundlichkeit und Wärme umsorgt hat. Ein Ort, an dem man sich wohlfühlt und den ich jedem nur wärmstens ans Herz legen kann.

Wer gutes Essen, Herzlichkeit und ein wunderschönes Ambiente liebt, sollte sich dieses Restaurant nicht...
