A CASA MIA Restaurant — Restaurant in Sankt Johann im Pongau

One star for the service. The food was TERRIBLE. Well, maybe because we came in and ordered wrong food in this restaurant! People came in here mostly ordered pizzas.

The sauteed chicken with rice was very very bad with a few pieces of rectangular-cut style chicken drown in a bath of spicy red sauce. The burger had too much BBQ sauce to hide the unfreshed or tasteless thin patty which we doubted it was actually beef?!?

Adding to the insult, they asked us to pay CASH at the end. Really? We were in many restaurants in Pongau (stayed here 2 weeks) and this was the first time that we were asked to pay cash. They said it was the restaurant policy "We don't accept cards". The only thing we could make out of this "special" policy was that they wanted to avoid paying taxes to the government (not sure local or district or whatever). Or the staff wanted to pocket money from the owner who weren't around to watch the register. Who knows? But we need to let everyone know about it so you won't get stuck after the meal for not having the cash and are forced to go to the ATM...

Please do bring cash.. Despite all of the prior reviews and comments, I took my husband to this restaurant after a long day of walking through Salzburg and climbing the Liechtensteinklamm (gorge). My German is limited but the menu is in German and English. We ordered a Alexandro and a Mozzarella pizza with 2 sodas. The waitress spoke limited English but between our limitations we got the order perfect.. And let me tell you.. DELICIOUS! So far, A Casa Mia has delivered the best tasting pizza I am yet to experience on the European Continent! That speaks volumes, since I've been traveling Europe for over 30 years! This meal, which filled us to the brim was NOT expensive by European standards, costing a mere €30. If you're in St. Johann im Pongau and want a delicious Pizza, try A Casa Mia. Bring Cash, they don't take any cards to my knowledge and don't hesitate to use the little translator in your cell phones. The staff is amazingly accommodating and will try their best to figure out what your tastebuds...
