The hotel was not too far from the train and bus stations (but was a little uphill for flatlanders). The room was clean and nicely furnished. The bed was very comfortable and they gave a choice of pillows. There was plenty of storage space. The WiFi worked well and my room had a great view of the Alps. The staff was very friendly and seemed concerned to make sure I was comfortable. The room was well insulated so that street noises and even the church bells next door did not disturb me when the windows and curtains were closed. The blackout curtains worked well and I loved the windows which would let you crack them for a breeze, open them, or lock them securely. The water in the bathroom and the plumbing were good and worked well as did the shower. I had a very nice room, was comfortable, and felt welcome. The food in the restaurant at lunch and dinner was authentic and a good value. There was a sizable breakfast buffet but I don't eat breakfast so I can't comment on the quality. AS far as problems go, the room freshner in the bathroom was very strong. It was not an unpleasant scent but was way too strong. The floors, although they were very clean and appeared to be new hardwood inlays, creaked a lot inside the room as well as out in the hall. I wasn't disturbed by other guests but was concerned I was disturbing others. The biggest problem I had was with the language barrier. I am an English speaker. The manager spoke reasonably good English but the rest of the staff spoke broken English at best and it was hard to communicate. I speak no German and expected to have some of these problems. My advance reservation change, however, was not honored even though it was confirmed months in advance. I was unable to communicate sufficiently with the staff on duty at check out to avoid paying an extra day's fare when I checked out. In all fairness, when I returned home and got a German speaking agent to contact the hotel and the problem was rectified. The hotel said they could not, however, credit my card and would only provide a bank transfer or a direct refund in cash. Luckily, I had been visiting my son in Bludenz and he was able to pick up the cash. I think what really upset me was that, after I had to pay for an extra day when I checked out at the normal check out time, the hotel would not allow me to leave my bags in the room until I went to catch the train later in the day. It was that fact which made me pursue a reimbursement after I returned home. They did not even offer to hold my bags in a secure room. I honestly think the problem resulted from a failure to communicate well rather than any mal-intent or incompetence of the staff. Even though there were minor problems, I really enjoyed my stay at this little hotel and consider it a...

Read moreI was here in September 2022. I arrived late at night by train. There was no formal reception area so I was running around trying to find it. There is no sign to indicate the formal entrance or reception area. I finally just went inside the restaurant and the waitress checked me in from the restaurant cash register.
The waitress asked whether we wanted to pay for breakfast ahead of time. It was about $13USD per person, so I said yes. After checking in, the waitress told me our room was upstairs. There is no elevator so we had to lug our heavy suitcases up the stairs.
The stay itself was okay. Room and the building was dated but clean and plenty of hot water. But the shower door was insufficient and basically almost flooded the bathroom and even onto the bedroom but we blocked the water using towels.
I went down to the restaurant for breakfast the early next morning and apparently I was a few minutes late but they let me still have whatever was left. It was pretty much what we call Continental Breakfast in the states and not worth $13USD they charged me.
The kicker is after we left. I got an email a few months ago from them saying I did not pay and I need to pay. I emailed them back saying I booked their hotel via an internet travel site and I paid the site. I also told them that they had my credit card in file when I checked in and they did not charge my credit card for the room (they did charge for the breakfasts, however) because I had already paid via said travel website. Then I got a reply saying the manager is new and she is going through the accounts and found that my bill was not paid and to send her proof that i paid. I got ticked off and told her if they did not realize a customer had not paid for nearly a year, that is a stupid way to run a business and that I did pay. I called the travel website and explained the situation. They said they will contact the hotel directly and deal with this issue. So I thought that would be it.
I get another email today, December 2023, saying it's still not paid. I am not gonna bother with them. A bunch of idiots are running this establishment. I highly discourage anyone from staying here. Save...
