Biergasthof Otto — Restaurant in Vienna

We loved this place so much that we revisited it again being tourist . The service on Saturday 25th Oct 2025 was excellent by both the waiters they made us feel very welcoming. Super impressed we went second time 27th October 2025 expecting same friendly welcome. At first the lady was good cleaning our tables giving us menu . Then she messed up our order we order fish and she gave us beef . When informed about it there was not even a word of sorry . I asked for extra pickles and was ready to pay for it . But they rudely denied it. Then heard them mocking and laughing loudly at us behind our backs so we could hear it saying “English English” it was very hurtful and felt very racist. Feeling sad that we visited this place again just to get insulted and humiliated. We were about to tip them like we did first time even though they messed up order and billed us for that . Sorry -- pretty disappointed with this place. I assume that the glowing reviews in Google were mostly based on visits to the picturesque garden on warm summer evenings. Our experience was inside on a rainy day, where the atmosphere was grim and the facility appeared generally worn down. We ordered the lunch special at 12:45. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty and our orders being placed in the midst of the lunch time window, the Tagesmenü was already sold out. As a result of the Restaurant's inability to plan, we had to order the much more expensive meals from the normal menu and forgo the soup that would have come with the Tagesmenü. The Surschnitzel was OK, as was the potato salad, but the value for money was lacking. Vienna is full of delightful restaurants that manage to actually offer delicious lunch specials. This was my second visit to the restaurant in a span of 3 days since I had a great experience during the first visit. However the story did not repeat itself and the service went down the hill this time around. Firstly they messed up with my order and served me something else than what was ordered. And secondly there was no sign of apology from the service staff and I could hear them mocking loudly about asking whether they could speak in English. With such a behaviour I wonder the staff is setting a wrong example in front of tourists and in return it may hamper your business to attract tourists to your restaurant too.
