Completely surprised by this place!! My partner and I were lost, lonely, and hungry tourists and we stumbled upon this Vietnamese restaurant. It’s definitely a “hole in the wall” type place. Don’t expect too much when you walk in.
We were the only ones in the restaurant and we were quite apprehensive when we sat down. We almost left. However we were so hungry we could hardly walk further. The chef did not speak any English and the menus weren’t in English so we randomly chose what we thought would be good.
I must say the food was AMAZING! The price is a lot cheaper than the average place you would find in the city center. I ordered the Banh Xeo Reismehlcrêpe gefüllt mit Kräutern and it was incredible. So crispy and so citrusy. The chef created the dish to perfection.
I’m celiac. The menu notes food allergens and gluten pretty well. However I’m not sure about cross contamination - I’m skeptical, so we’ll find out tomorrow 😂 However I can honestly say this place was a pleasant surprise and I highly recommend if you’re a fan of...
Read moreEstablishment seats only 8 persons, so don’t expect to be seated when it’s busy. Wait your turn. We came around lunch time on a Thursday and there were open seats. Steadily busy with people in and out grabbing take aways. As soon as I stepped in, the aroma of the Vietnamese food was spot on! The 2 people who work here are so friendly and service was great. Let you enjoy your food but also made sure you liked your meal as well. For starters we order spring summer rolls and fried chicken egg rolls, and I have to admit… best rolls so far. My husband loves lemongrass flavor so he ordered the lemongrass magic with chicken, and was happy. He said it was light and a different kind of refreshing taste to lemongrass. I ordered the bun Rieu and I enjoyed the authentic rich salty and crabby flavor. It was even better with squeezed lemon and the spicy sauce that was provided on the table. Also don’t forget to get a bia Saigon beer to wash everything...
Read moreA tiny little place and it's right in the center of Vienna, at least I think so. When you step inside, nothing really stands out at first glance, but based on the reviews we’d read beforehand, we decided to stay.
It seemed like the father was doing the cooking and the son was taking care of the guests (maybe that’s not farher and son but that’s how I’ll refer to them 😄). The son spoke English, the father spoke German – so communication was totally smooth.
As for the food itself – it was absolutely amazing. We had pork with rice noodles and shrimp. The flavors of this Vietnamese kitchen were honestly borderline genius. We really hope to come back someday. For food and drinks for two people, we paid around €30.
PS: The chef/owner is a fun and friendly guy, clearly enjoys having guests, loves his job, and he's really good at it! We don’t have a photo of the food – we ate...
