Marengo Restaurant BBQ — Restaurant in Vienna

Food is terrible. The waiter tried to trick me to pay 10 EUR for Mineral wasser. (Check this from the photo that I uploaded on this spot in google map. Note that it also shows about Gulash, but that's what my partner had.)

I visited this place last weekend, and have to share about the terrible experience and food.

As a foreigner who have live in Wien for 5 years, I'm a fan of Ribs. You may easily guess, I've had more than 100 ribs in numerous restaurants in Wien. Therefore went for it too in this place.

It was composed of around 5 pieces, each had like 4-5 bones too. Therefore the size was good for its price 10,50 EUR. But that's all.

After fighting 2-3 pieces, however, I found those were only fat. Literally fat was everything there. I could find about 3% - 5% of flesh at most. I've never seen something like this in any place in any time. I have experiences of buying the raw ribs from the several markets, but never seen such low quality uneatable stuffs anywhere.

Likewise, the potato fries were hard like rock. It sounded like wood when I knocked on it.

That made me to called the waiter who looked gentle and had nice beard. Of course he couldn't argue at all seeing the mass of fats that I stacked on the dish, and took the food away when I told him I couldn't eat and didn't want to pay for it. Ok, I was feeling already terrible at that point, but I tried to stay calm.

When I wanted to pay, however, again, he brought the bill which says "MICERAL WASSE 10 EUR". (Check this from the photo that I uploaded in google map. ) I thought "Man... I'm a foreigner but lived in Wien for 5 years...I know this wouldn't cost more than 5 EUR at most even in more expensive places". Therefore I told him that I wanted to talk to the manager. He didn't answer. I told him once or twice again, then he gave up this trick.

Guys, be prepared to eat some trashes by spending your own money and/or to be tricked to overpay by...

I went there with large group of people from work based on recommendation and reviews. At the end it was disappointment for me. Ambient nothing special, but that was not the reason I went there. That day was 32 degrees in the shade and we got information when we came that air conditioning is broken 😩 Appetizers were only two types of salami, very bad. Then main dish came, mix meat with special “Sach” meat. If was average. Saca was not that at all, but some steam cooked meat. Hamburger was not “Pljeskavica” but more like you order in McDonalds. Only one type of local spirit from Balkan, only one type of beer (yes Karlovacko is good) but still expected more. Prices are moderate. Service was pretty OK and this was the only reason to leave a Tipp. Do not recommend if you want to it...

Absolutely Horrible Experience!

My recent visit to this café was a complete disaster. We decided to sit outside, but they had no blankets available. None at all! The food was incredibly bland and lacked any flavor. To top it off, the service was excruciatingly slow, which made the entire experience even worse.

But the final straw was the payment situation. At the end of our meal, they informed us that they only accepted cash, no cards. This was never mentioned beforehand. I had to run five blocks back to my hotel and then find an ATM to withdraw cash because they refused to let us leave without paying.

This was beyond frustrating and utterly unacceptable. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the trouble and...
