The location is possibly one of the best for a pool in Vienna (although no view). Also, it is super clean and well maintained and that is why I give it 2 stars….HOWEVER
The entrance price of €19,- is beyond comprehension, ridiculously high and definitely not worth for what you get. Even our 2-year-old had no free entrance, as it is usually standard, but we had to pay €6,- ……but for what? The so called (and on their website claimed) kids pool is so cold that not only our child but any child we watched didn’t want to go in. It is NOT for kids. Also my wife didn’t wanna go in as the water is ways too cold.
And then came the restaurant prices and that blew my mind also considering the portions sizes. We paid €44,- (!!) for two adults and a toddler and then that. I cannot describe what a rip-off that is but I will certainly never ever go back to Schönbrunner Bad again if no changes are made!
Anyone should go to Bundesbad Alte Donau where the Donau is warmer by sunlight than the presumed heated pool of “fancy” Schönbrunner Bad. Also the Hütteldorfer Bad is waaaaays better for kids.

Read moreThe best outdoor swimming hole in Vienna. But at €15-€18 per entry, you expect something nice. It’s a very clean, secure facility and the lifeguards seem to be quiet alert and with it. The clientele is a touch more genteel and au fait with what constitutes ‘relaxation in peace & quiet’. Generous sized swimming areas for very small children and ‘non-swimmers’.
No Strandbad Alte Donau/etc feels here, unless of course you happen to go during their yearly summer party for which they charge an entry fee of €30 per person and that doesn’t include any drinks or nibblies. So take care to check their website or phone them beforehand to check if any special events are running. Summer season passes are available. Make sure to have 50 cent coins ready for hot water in the showers and €1 handy for lockers.
The only real downsides are, of course, the steep entry fee — but perhaps this is why you get a different cohort of people than you would at the other pools — and having to hike up quite a few stairs and that hill just for a swim which makes it not friendly for the...
Read moreThis is a great pool, after researching several of the pools in Vienna without a doubt this is the best facility. The pool is well-built, well designed and very well-maintained. The deck, the interior of the pool and the water quality were all excellent, there was very little signs of wear and tear on anything at this facility, and public pool facilities are very difficult to maintain well. Price of entrance is a little high, but you get what you pay for in this world. Those that don’t like the high price should probably go to one of the lovely public facilities, like Parkplatz Gänsehäufel where they can swim with 10,000 other people in the river. I think the price is reasonable considering what you get here, a private club like facility without the big ticket membership fees. I wish I found this place a long time ago. The only thing I could find wrong with it is the entrance is a little bit far from the park gate, so if you’re cycling your bike is locked a long way from the facility outside the gate...
