Thailanna Donaustadt — Restaurant in Vienna

I had lunch there in August 2021. it’s a nice restaurant with chill ambience. Clean and spacious with outside seatings. Their price point is a little higher than average. Overall a pleasant experience. Staffs were friendly and worked fast. My favorite was the spicy salad with minced duck. It got all the right flavors and fragrance. Unfortunately, the papaya salad was a bit lacking the day I visited. There was no Thai eggplants and Thai pickled olives in there. I like that the chicken was served just the way it should be, with skin. And it was dark meat so the juiciness was guaranteed! 👌🏻It would have been perfect if the rice wasn’t a tad undercooked. If I’m not mistaken they mixed some sticky rice in the dish too to add chewy texture. And they usually take longer to cook than normal rice. It could use another 10-15 minutes. The sauce was slightly too thin but taste-wise ok. And the soup was far from the chicken broth. It’s more like some clear soup you find at Chinese restaurants. The presentation was nice though but sadly impractical. The bento aka pinto takes up a lot of space and to unpack it requires some work. Even with all that flaws I was rambling about I still think Thailanna is worth visiting as I’m sure they’d fine tune to eventually perfect their craft over time.

ลาบเป็ดคือดือ หอมข้าวคั่วปรุงมาถูกปากเรา ส้มตำปลาร้าน้ำปลาร้ายังไม่ค่อยนัวเท่าไหร่ วันที่ไปไม่มีมะเขือไม่มีมะกอกดอง ก็เลยออกมาเหมือนตำไทยใส่น้ำปลาร้า น้ำจิ้มปอเปี๊ยะมันใสมากจนงง รสชาติก็จางตามความใส ส่วนข้าวมันไก่มีกิมมิคเก๋ๆเสิร์ฟในปิ่นโตแต่กลายเป็นว่ามันเทอะทะไป ไอน้ำจากซุปก็เกาะใต้ปิ่นโตชั้นบน แกะออกมาวางโต๊ะแฉะไปอี๊ก 😅 ข้าวมันแอบกรุบไปนิด เข้าใจว่าข้าวเหนียวยังสุกไม่ทั่ว ถ้าหุงต่ออีกซัก10นาทีน่าจะลงตัว น้ำซุปเหมือนต้มมาต่างหากมันแทบจะไม่มีรสชาติไก่อยู่ในนั้นเลยอ่ะ แต่เอาจริงๆโดยรวมข้าวมันไก่ใช้ได้เลยนะ ใครชอบกินข้าวมันไก่ก็ควรไปโดน ไม่ค่อยมีร้านไหนทำขายด้วย หรือถ้ามีก็ใช้เนื้ออกไม่มีหนัง เพราะฝรั่งไม่อินกับหนังเลยจะออกไปแนวเคี้ยวซากอ้อย...

food: fresh an a good variation of ingredients all in all a good taste hot is hot ;-)

service: at the beginning a little bit reserved, but got better at the end, wraping of the reamining food was offered to take along (+++)

ambiente: the ceiling of the restaurant looks a little like a construction site. however, tables, lights and menu look ok the menu includes photos, just right to support your joice of food background noise is anoyiing; the try to vover it with music, which doesn't work out

War gut. Wir haben spontan am Abend angerufen, ob noch ein Tisch für zwei Personen frei ist, und dieser wurde uns gleich reserviert. Das Lokal selbst ist überschaubar, aber recht hübsch eingerichtet. Die Hydraulik an der Decke mag für viele kein optisches Highlight sein, aber für jemanden vom Fach ist es doch recht witzig, mal ein Auge darüber schweifen zu lassen.

Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und schnell platziert. Die Küche befindet sich neben den Tischen, sodass man beim Kochen zusehen kann. Die Getränke kamen schnell und die Bestellung für das Essen wurde aufgegeben. Kurze Zeit später kam diese auch schon an.

Wir haben uns als Vorspeise für das Satay-Huhn und als Hauptspeise für das Cashew-Huhn und Moo Krob entschieden. Dazu haben wir zum Probieren Jasminreis und Reisbandnudeln bestellt. Die Satay-Spieße haben mir persönlich sehr zugesagt, meiner Begleitung waren sie jedoch zu trocken.

Mir hat auch das Moo Krob und der Jasminreis gut geschmeckt, und ich fand die Portion auch ordentlich. Das Cashew-Huhn fand meine Begleitung okay, aber es hat ihren Geschmack nicht ganz getroffen. Ich habe von ihr probiert und war ebenfalls nicht sehr begeistert. Die Reisbandnudeln haben uns beiden nicht geschmeckt, was aber an der Nudel selbst und nicht an der Zubereitung lag.

Inklusive zwei Getränken haben wir für eine Vorspeise, zwei Hauptspeisen und zwei Beilagen rund 60 € bezahlt. Ich für meinen Teil fand das Essen gut, aber für einen regelmäßigen Besuch wäre es mir...
