A popular eatery in Oistins, Barbados for locals and tourists. Pat's Place is a well known fish fry with an assortment of fresh seafood and sides. They also serve big portions so it is highly recommended to visit with an empty stomach. Our meal was very satisfying as their fish was well seasoned and fresh. The macaroni side and salad was a perfect compliment. And their prices was quite cheap, especially with the huge portions. Please note, service is a little confusing since the person taking orders will ask you to pay someone else within the eatery. To help avoid confusion, ask them to direct you to that individual. It will prevent any delays. If you want to avoid huge crowds and lengthy wait times, I'd highly recommend a visit during the daytime or weeknights. During the weekends, parking can be hard to find and the area is congested with a lot of people. Overall, if you're a first time visitor to Barbados or a local, Pat's Place is a good choice for grilled seafood. They offer quality seafood, side dishes and huge servings at a great value. Highly recommended!

We went here on a Sunday and luckily there wasn't much of a queue. After I ordered, the guy taking the order tried to overcharge me, and judging by the other reviews, this is common practice. No luck with me. The food we got was in a takeaway container, cutlery were single-use plastic, sauces were out of huge tubs you could pour yourself some from, and the dining area had dirty plastic tables and chairs. It's an authentic bajan experience, but if you're looking for something that is even remotely fancy, this is not it. The marlin was fabulous, but that was about it. The flying fish was unimpressive, the mac and cheese salad was tasteless and the fries had no salt and just tasted like palm oil. Also keep in mind that this place is pure chaos, with people being very loud and walking all around you, so if you're looking for a calm place to eat, this is really not it. Overall a very mediocre experience and I can't for the life of me understand the hype, especially if you have to wait for hours on a Friday for this.

We came on a Friday night around 7:30 pm and saw a line forming, so we figured we’d join in, given the hype about this being ā€˜the best spot.’ Ended up waiting about 1 hour and 15 minutes before finally ordering. We got the swordfish plate with mac pie and coleslaw, and the shrimp with rice, beans, and coleslaw. Honestly, it wasn’t worth the wait. The swordfish plate was good , priced fairly, and came with a generous portion, but waiting over an hour for it? Definitely not. There are plenty of spots in Oistins that could serve something just as good without the long line. The real disappointment was the shrimp. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo, but it was just 6 shrimp that were so overcooked they were practically falling apart. It was definitely not what I expected from a place with such a reputation. Overall, it didn’t live up to the hype. There are other spots nearby where you can get a good meal without such a long wait.

Each time I visit Barbados I always eat at Pat’s place. I’ve been traveling to Barbados since 2016 and this is probably my 30th time visiting the island. And most of the time when I’m on vacation I’m eating at Pats place because that’s how much I enjoy the food. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE is your macaroni pie. I will usually take home a box of macaroni pie, so I can enjoy it for lunch the next day. HOWEVER! MY LAST VISIT TO THE RESTAURANT MADE ME INCREDIBLY ILL! That night I was nauseous, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating felt like I was going to pass out. It was the most miserable vacation I have ever had in anywhere I have ever stayed . When I opened my lunchbox of macaroni pie, I realize that Pat changed her recipe. She made that pie with PEPPER-JACK CHEESE! 😱 Turns out this is the only cheese that I cannot digest. I can recall tasting that something was off but honestly, I thought it was another side she sells. PAT, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, PLEASE, PLEASE GO BACK TO YOUR ORIGINAL RECIPE FOR YOUR MACARONI PIE. PLEASE, NO MORE PEPPER JACK CHEESE.🤢 Thanks.

UPDATE August 2024 My prayers have been answered! The ORIGINAL macaroni pie is BACKKK!! šŸ™ŒšŸ½šŸ™ŒšŸ½šŸ™ŒšŸ½ Thank you Pat! My tummy is happy again. When I asked why the change I was informed that there was never a change to the pie.🧐 Either way. IT’S BACK and I’m happy. Also, love the new changes to the area the fish is prepared; however, the guys need a fan or something to keep them cool. They were sweating very hard. It doesn’t look good because they’re preparing food. Also, the fish cooks faster now with the heat condensed in one area. Please be aware of cook times because the fish was very chewy (overcooked) during separate visits.

UPDATE (prior to August 2024) Visited Pat’s this weekend. Nothing has changed. She’s sticking to the new cheese. I’m so...

If you find yourself on Barbados on a Friday night you would be crazy if you’re not in Oistins at the Fish Fry. We had read before we left that Pat’s Place was the place to be so sadly for all the other vendors we headed straight there. We arrived and were seated right away but huge lines started to form all over the place shorty after that.

The Fish Fry consists of a bunch a small stalls serving up food and they are all vying for your attention. The word has clearly gotten out about Pat’s Place – they were by far the busiest of the bunch. We ordered the Mahi Mahi, Coleslaw, Fries, Macaroni Salad. Macaroni Pie, Chicken, & Green Salad.

The Mahi Mahi was outstanding! The Coleslaw was awesome and left me wanting more – small side portion alert! Fries were great Macaroni Salad was also another standout – wish we got more of that as well Macaroni Pie, Chicken & Green Salad were just ok – I guess the salad may have been better if they served it with dressing but it was just lettuce and we asked for dressing but never received it. Based on my experience don’t plan on being waited on with too much care – they get busy and forget about you. So ask for everything up front.

Hint: there is plenty of parking directly across the street – take the road back and it leads to a big open lot and it’s free! You’ll see a guy selling pastries just to the left of the road that goes back. I also recommend you get some of his goods – they are very good – we tried the raspberry pastry & chocolate cake and both...

Visited this spot twice on my trip to Barbados. First time around we got the swordfish with macaroni pie and the flying fish with breadfruit. The food itself was good. The women at the time working the window weren’t friendly or helpful to us as weren’t not from the island but we ignored it and decided to come back again before our flight out of Barbados. Total waste of time. The lady at the counter the second time was actually nice and helpful which was nice because she took the time to answer our couple questions about the menu. The dreadhead rasta man on the grill though is so unnecessarily rude. He wanted our container passed over to him in a particular way but in the midst of the noise from the rain, the loud environment (grill cooking and people talking), and honestly his thicker accent I couldn’t make out his instructions and he got so hostile. Some patience and a little kindness goes a long way especially with new patrons to your business. Remember that when you’re dealing with your customers who a) might not be bajan and may honestly misunderstand/ mishear you. Unfriendly ignorant bad mind man with terrible customer service - do better. The food the second time around was okay, we both got the swordfish with breadfruit and Mac pie. The fish was good. The pie was buttery and not cheesy. Next time I’m in Barbados I’m not sure I’ll be back. Instead I’ll try another spot that was highly recommended over Pats -...
