Antwerp, Belgium: A small restaurant with about 10 tables. I believe the place must have been a butcher shop. The atmosphere is mainly created by the open kitchen which stands in the middel and the decorative, early 70 ties tiles on the walls. On the ceiling the rails, used to roll the the quarters of meet from the street to the refrigerated rooms, has been preserved. It gives the place an industrial look from the past. The two host, Bart & Sally, are due to the size of the place working very close to their guests. Bart the cook can be seen working from very nearby. The menu offers a very limited dishes, which is understandable when you know everything is don by 2 persons only! The dishes are prepared with a lot of dedication and are simple and very tasty. The price (€€) is in line with the quality. The wine card offers a world wide variety of interesting and good wines (€€ - €€€} Certainly a restaurant worth discovering but a table needs to be booked well in...
Read moreAfter many many years of saying “I really want to go there” I finally ended up here for lunch last week and so glad I did. It fully lived up to my expactations and beyond! This is an absolute institution is Belgium and it’s as authentic as it can be. The maybe 8-10 small cosy tables are positioned around the open kitchen. Bart, the owner, welcome’s you in the most friendly and warm way. When you ask for a drink he says “we only do water, wine and koffie”. LOVE IT! Bart knows his wines, he doesn’t has a winelist but asks you what you want and then tells you what he has to offer and he is always spot on. A true wine lover and connaisseur. Before I forget: the food! They only have 3 starters and 3 main courses which should only tell you one thing: they know what they are good at and it’s fresh. We had the tartare as a starter and the coq-au-vin and it was simply amazing.
A beautiful experience and can’t...
Read moreI found this amazing place online on the Michelin guide website. The description given there told of the amazing food. My wife and I went there for dinner and loved it! It was a fairly small menu that changes from time to time depending on local produce. The Quality of the ingredients was top notch, and the way the food was prepared was excellent. The menu was made up of starters and main courses and some desserts. The sommelier suggested something to drink before ordering and also perfect wines for each course. Open bottles we used so that we received wine by the glass, which was perfect because we were only two people. We paid around €100 per person and were blown away. This is a an expensive restaurant, and you really get what you pay for. Highly...
