Leopold 1 Restaurant Brasserie — Restaurant in De Panne

On a Friday evening we went to dinner with our parents. After unpacking for a week at the seaside we had a hanger and luckily there was still room in the first place where we tried to get a table. The reception was a bit unclear whether there was room due to the Dutch-French language barrier that apparently prevails everywhere here 😁. Then we were kindly guided to our table. Extensive menu, also many choices of fish. All plates that passed were nicely decorated and generous portions. Because we were on the dike, the prices are a bit higher than if you were to go a bit inland. We had a steak and videe, more than fine. The fries that were served with it were also tasty. The toilets were ok. During the meal they asked at different tables if everything was okay, but not with us. When clearing the table they did ask if everything had been nice. When leaving we were not greeted anymore. Definitely recommended and...

We are repeat customers here and just had the worse meal and absolutely terrible service. The seats at our table were cleaned and left wet and we got covered in cleaning fluid from sitting on them. The staff were laughing at us and offered no sympathy or compensation. Our night was ruined and we went home embarrassed instead of enjoying the evening market on the promenade.

You’re paying for the location. We can all agree that 20€ for a kids fish and chips that is from a catering multipack and microwaved is a joke. The mussels are no better than the rest of the places nearby and whoever thinks they’re serving thai food is sadly mistaken. It’s just onions and lime.

All about profit, serving the cheapest wuality for maximum cost and no loyalty to loyal...

We enjoyed a late impromptu dinner here for the first time last night and had the most delicious makame seared tuna salad with an on the beach terrace setting watching the sun go down with our 2 small dogs. Utterly blissful!

We never had the pleasure of sampling this Japanese inspired seaweed dish before but it certainly won't be our last - utterly yummy!

All the French speaking young staff were super enthusiastic, efficient, knowledgeable and so friendly. What a great team they make. If only we could get English youngsters this amazing in the hospitality industry! Watch and learn kids!
