Sat down to just grab drinks with my Mother, waiting for our group to meet up for the trip back to Brussels. Half an hour into our drinks, we are bullied into ordering entrées, because "This is a restaurant," according to the waiter, shoving a menu in my face that states each person must order one drink and one entrée. Okay, no big deal, we'll order the mushroom toast, because how long can that take? Well, turns out it takes nearly 25 minutes, at which point we are about to miss our bus. We try to request a to-go box, so that we don't miss our transport, and are told "It's not possible." Okay, no big deal, we'll just grab the check and leave, sans food. Turns out, they decided to cram the toast into old sherbet containers (?!?), and pass them along after all- GROSS. No, thank you. Don't bother with this place unless you're a...
Read moreDon't get me wrong, the mussels are delicious but our waiter was insisting that we order 1 pot of mussels each. I only wanted to taste them and at $30 for each plate, it was more than we wanted to spend on a snack. I just wanted a salad so I ordered the caprese and he said if that was all I was going to order he would have to put it on a larger plate and charge me extra. We haggled about that for a while and we should have left right then but we made a deal that he wouldn't charge me extra. It is the first time, in any restaurant, I was forced to order more than I wanted and made to feel like I was doing something wrong. We couldn't even finish the big pot we got, let alone two of them. Ridiculous. It was so unsettling. I would never eat here again and I wouldn't recommend it unless you plan on ordering a...
Read moreI spent 12 days on vacation in Belgium. And the only bad memory I have is this "restaurant". In all cities I've been, I could ask for mussels to share with my husband and, then, ask for another meal. But this was not possible in this "restaurant". I was very polite, using all the french I have (the uneducated waiter didn't know or didn't want to speak any english), trying to explain if I ate a hole portion of mussels myself, I wouldn't be able to try other plates. It was humiliating. But, for the only star I'm supposed to leave in this review, one truly great thing came out of this: I got out of there and went to Le Jardin de Fiorine, where I had the best dinner in Belgium. There, I recommend. They have excelent service and are very gentle. And the food...
