Restaurant Molenvijver — Restaurant in Genk

Very wired experience. The restaurant tries to make it look like a high end place and the enviroment sure is stunning, but the service is slow, the food way to expensive and wierdly put toghetter. We waited 1,5 hour for our main course, the bread for one of the dishes arrived after 15 minutes into the wait, so when the food arrived we ate the bread (only 1 piece) and was not offered any more. We recived to glasses of appertives, one glas of white wine and one of rosé, there was no explenation on any of the drinks, no questions asked, the waiter just poured it up and went away with wine dripping down the side of the glass. The food was something else, my mother orderd the salmon and I orderd the lobster with pasta. The salmon tasted ok, but was only accompimined with 2 tomatoes, some cucumber bits and roasted onions.. My lobster was over cooked and the pasta was just regular boring pasta with some sort of sauce. We also orderd desserts, a creme bruleé and a cheese platter, but when we had waited 40 minutes for this we told them to cancel our order and we left hungry and unsatisfied. Nice view, nearby parking spot, English and Dutch menus, waitresses speaking Dutch, French, English, but mediocre food. Beautiful to look at the dishes but tasteless. Pretty high prices for what you really get. Maybe we ended up at the restaurant in a unlucky day, because they couldn't make any mocktails for some reasons, we asked food without alcohol but we got a small Brazilian starter with an alcoholic sauce and a dessert as well. The place wasn't so busy so that I don't know what was the problem but I would not come back again. The duck with rice was okay taste, but the chicken with chocolate and mole was not eatable. We asked for ice tea Lipton Peach and we got only lemon, we asked for a homemade lemonade and we got water with syrup. Not the best...

Toen we toekwamen waren we heel enthousiast over de setting van het restaurant. Een prachtig zicht op een zeer gezellige tuin. Qua zicht was het fenomenaal.

Jammer genoeg was het suggestiemenu toch van mindere kwaliteit (prijs-kwaliteit gezien). Ook het lange wachten op het eten was niet zo fijn. Om 18:30u aangekomen en rond 19:30u kwam het voorgerecht. Als voorgerecht had je een coquille met doperwten en munt. De coquille das te ver gebakken en verbrand waardoor de coquille wat bitter smaakte... Niet echt een gerecht dat in mijn smakenpallet thuis hoorde.

Voor we ons hoofdgerecht kregen hebben we !!1,5u!! Moeten wachten... ze waren ons 'vergeten'... Als hoofdgerecht kregen we parelhoen, met aardappel gebakken in de schil, mini courgette en een mousse van champignons. Dit was lekker en zeer verzorgd, maar jammer genoeg was het, desondanks het lang wachten, toch niet meer zo warm. Waardoor de smaken minder aanwezig waren.

Kort daarna, rond 21:20u kregen we ons dessert, dame-blanche. Niets speciaals gewoon lekker.

TL;DR: Een mooi uitzicht, lange wachttijden voor je het eten krijgt, te duur voor wat je krijgt (smaak!).
