We have been going to this establishment for many years. It has evolved continuously over the years but has always been high quality. Looking at a couple low score reviews on this board, one where they complained about the vegan offerings not being up to their expectations and another where a parent expected the staff to clean up after their child when the child threw food all over the place. I think I see a pattern here. The parent said it best racial intolerance. In this case I think the customers are treating staff with less than proper understanding as there are several languages involved as well as cultural norms. I'm sure there are Belgian restaurants that don't completely get all the nuances of ones vegan wants. Is there is a concrete universally recognized definition of vegan and the restaurant advertises that they serve a vegan menu... As for the parents who are unable or unwilling to care for their child when it is out of control. We have all seen this movie. As an American who lives in Lier this is conduct im used to seeing in the USA, not so much here in Flanders. Again, expecting wait staff to clean up after your child might be normal where you come from but I know it doesn't fly everywhere. If the staff is giving you stinkeye its doubtful its racially based but more along the lines of you not acting like grownups. I think you are the ones in the wrong because you don't treat the wait staff as wait staff and not child care...

As soon as we came in with our baby the waiter was cold and angry. He gave us continously angry glances, when my daughter dropped the chips she said we needed to clean ourselves, i said no and the waiter was shouting in Chinese or whatever Its not the first time they treated me like that and just saying it is terrible place to eat and ill never go there again. Read moreWij hebben er gemengde gevoelens bij. Wij kwamen een kwartier te vroeg en de deur was open en het bordje stond op OPEN. Wij lopen naar binnen om aan te geven dat we gereserveerd hebben. De eigenaar liep op ons af en wees ons de deur en zei schreeuwend dat we weg moeten en maar buiten moeten wachten. Wij hebben buiten een kwartier gewacht en toen mochten we naar binnen. Wij waren net gaan zitten en ze kwamen om te vragen wat we wilde drinken. Wij wilden nog niks en gaven aan later drinken te willen bestellen. De serveerster zei: “later??!!!!” Ze nam de drank kaarten mee en liep woedend weg. Heel vreemd.. Na 5 minuten kwam een andere persoon vragen wat we wilde drinken en liep boos weg toen we aangaven even te willen wachten. Het buffet had de basis maar het was verder erg schoon en netjes. Wij vroegen om een andere vork maar de serveerster gaf aan dat wij geen andere vork mogen krijg en maar met deze vork verder moesten eten. Wij schrokken wel een beetje van het dessert assortiment.
