I recently visited Namur's 'Au Bombay' Indian restaurant with a group of six people, including two older citizens and a child. We were exhausted after two days of vacation and were hoping to find a good place to eat on our way back to Luxembourg. Unfortunately, our experience at 'Au Bombay' was extremely disappointing. First of all, the neighbourhood where the restaurant is located felt shady and unsafe. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately put off by the dismal and outdated decor. The condition of the toilets was deplorable, with damages and inoperability. To make matters worse, when we inquired about whether rice was complimentary with the main meals, as is the norm in every other Indian restaurant we have been to around the world, the proprietor rudely responded with a firm "NO." Considering our limited options at that point, we reluctantly ordered three main meals, two rice bowls, two nans, and one fried rice for my hungry 7-year-old daughter and exhausted uncle and aunt. To our complete astonishment, the proprietor started behaving erratically. He claimed that the meal we ordered was too little for seven people and became irritated when we questioned the rice being complementary. We tried to explain that the meal was sufficient for us, but he responded angrily, asking us to leave and shockingly telling us, "Don't act like an Indian here." As we were leaving, my daughter unexpectedly fell on the steep steps, adding to our overall distress and disappointment. This experience was nothing short of pathetic, leaving us feeling insulted and disgusted. It's disheartening to see that we are not the first to encounter such unprofessionalism at 'Au Bombay.' Numerous reviews have already criticized the food's taste, quantity, pricing, and the owner's demeanor. What's even more concerning is the proprietor's response to negative feedback, where they dismissively tell customers they never want to see them again - "“in short, the pleasure of never seeing you again. I can't stand this kind of comment just intended to harm a business for free”. This kind of attitude only highlights the poor customer service and inability to handle criticism. I strongly urge everyone to avoid Namur's 'Au Bombay' if you value good food, respectful treatment, and a pleasant dining experience. It's clear that the owner's rude, arrogant, uncivilized, and pathetic behavior negatively impacts the atmosphere, cuisine, and overall quality of the establishment. In the end, I sincerely hope that they learn from their mistakes and improve their customer service. However, based on our experience, I can guarantee that none of my close friends in Luxembourg and Belgium, including many Indians, will ever consider visiting this restaurant ("In...
Read moreDO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY at this place. We visited Au Bombay whilst driving through Namur and was totally disappointed by the food and the service (long waiting time). To start with, there was no baby chair for the baby, no dal on the menu, food took 1.5-2hrs to come, they won’t accept debit cards. We were told we would get homemade Naan which looked totally store-brought and tasted very rubbery. The lamb biryani was NOT biryani. It felt like lamb curry mixed with some rice. When we told this to the waiter, she said it’s meant to be creamy though it can’t be categorised as creamy nor as a biryani. Chilli chicken - this was just tomato, onion, and boiled chicken. And adding chilly powder does not make the “chilli” part of chilli chicken. Rice was half cooked. Lassi tasted awful. Water was so expensive - so bring...
Read moreWe would like to share a VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNPLEASANT BEHAVIOUR from the Mr. Owner itself !!
We were a group with Senior Citizens and a Kid. The owner was asked very politely about some items about food and what were associated with it or not. He started schooling us as if we were first time restaurant goers! We have been living in Europe in Luxembourg for 10yrs and this is the first time we experienced this. Though, we are originally from India and we’re seeking for Good Indian Culture. But it seems he is ONLY INTERESTED TO SELL INDIAN FOOD BUSINESS NAME TO NON -INDIAN People, who are unsuspecting and only CASH-COWS to him!!
Infact there Racist Overtones and literally insulting Behaviours towards our Travellers.
STRONGLY AVOID!! NOT WORTH IN THE NAME OF...
