Break Café — Restaurant in Poperinge

They tried to cheat us. When we arrived we asked for an english menu. One of the sandwiches we ordered were made with cheese (it wasn´t written on the menu), the waiter told us that it was a Belgium traditional plate so all the sandwiches had cheese...it was obvious we were not from Belgium...Finally when we asked for the check he didn't give us the receipt and the amount was totally wrong so we complained and asked for the receipt. The reason was ridiculous, the english menu was outdated and all the prices went higher. He started to shout us in his language and after 10 minutes complaining we got a different price, not the fair one. Really...

We walked in and gave our orders in Flemish 3 beers and 3 toasties We got the beers no problems but after waiting for 50 minutes we asked about our toasties and they forgotten us People who came in after us and ordered full on meals got served before us And then they said if we could wait for another 10 minutes We politely said no We've paid for the beers and left With no excuses...

Our visit to Poperinge was only a very brief lunch stop (as we were travelling and had little time) but glad we made the detour over the border from France as it is a lovely small town (how I picture a Belgian town to be!) Break Cafe provided us with excellent, reasonably-priced food and friendly,...
