Chez Wang — Restaurant in Rochefort

We had a dinner there on a Sunday night. We were sent to our table by the guy at the counter, he was friendly, even though he didn't speak English or Dutch and we didn't speak french. He brought us the menus, a few minutes later a lady came to take our order and that was a horrible experience, there was no mention in the menu about which dishes are vegetarian, I used Google translate to ask her that question in french and her reaction was not so good, she looked very annoyed and very uninterested in helping us, we ended up ordering stir fried vegetables and tofu curry. The food was ok, not the best Chinese food we had but it was edible. They accept cards. They have indoor and outdoor sitting space, if you don't like inhaling smoke from smokers then I would suggest you to sit inside. Quelle expérience décevante. Dès notre arrivée, nous n’avons reçu aucun accueil, seulement un regard renfrogné. Le personnel s’est montré franchement désagréable et nous n’avons à aucun moment eu l’impression d’être considérées comme des clientes. Lorsque nous avons voulu prendre une table, nous avons même été refusées.

Le plus douloureux est que cela n’est arrivé qu’à nous – en tant que femmes portant le voile, nous avons été clairement traitées différemment des autres clients. Cela nous a donné un fort sentiment de discrimination et d’exclusion.

Au lieu d’hospitalité, nous nous sommes senties méprisées et traitées injustement. Un restaurant où de telles pratiques existent ne mérite absolument aucune recommandation.

What a disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, we were not welcomed but instead met with a grumpy look. The staff was downright unfriendly and gave us no sense of being valued as guests. When we tried to take a table, we were even refused.

The most painful part is that this only happened to us – as women wearing headscarves, we were clearly treated differently from the other guests. This gave us a strong feeling of discrimination and exclusion.

Instead of hospitality, we felt disrespected and unfairly treated. A restaurant where such practices take place deserves absolutely no recommendation.

Wat een teleurstellende ervaring. Vanaf het moment dat wij binnenkwamen werden we niet welkom geheten, maar kregen we direct een chagrijnige blik. De bediening was ronduit onvriendelijk en gaf ons niet de indruk dat wij als gasten gewaardeerd werden. Toen wij een tafel wilden nemen, werden we zelfs geweigerd.

Het meest pijnlijke is dat dit alleen bij ons gebeurde – wij, als hoofddoekdragende vrouwen, werden duidelijk anders behandeld dan de andere gasten. Dat gaf ons een sterk gevoel van discriminatie en buitensluiting.

In plaats van gastvrijheid voelden wij ons respectloos en onrechtvaardig behandeld. Een restaurant waar zulke praktijken plaatsvinden verdient absoluut geen...

Lady was rude and had tried speaking more lauder as if I would understand. Tried with Google translate and was directed to the man at the bar.

Had asked to make an order to take away and the lady spoke with him and he informed me and I quote "we do not have time to make food to take away". If you have the time to make food for those that are at tables then how do you not have time to make 2 very simple meals for take away. Sorry to say I would have waited for my food and this is a great example of how not to treat your customers. Will not be recommending this place for anyone any...
