I've been here a couple dozen of times. The location is amazing: you can't beat sitting out on their terrace or having a coffee in their beautiful cafe inside. The cakes that I've had were pretty good as well, and I can say that the roasted coffee beans are awesome: I've currently got their coffee on my shelf that I grind at home when doing a pour over.
Let's talk about the service. It's very hit or miss. On more than one occasion, granted, normally when they are busy, you can wait up to 20 minutes just to have a server bring you a menu and then sometimes wait another 15 minutes for a simple lemonade or coffee. I've had to go to the counter on several occasions to ask them to come to the table (they don't allow you to order at the counter if you are dining in) after waiting for 20+ minutes. In the past, I've also seen alot of their own servers just chilling at tables with each other or clients (friends?) while I'm waiting 20 minutes for someone to come to my table. That is always a bit frustrating. Last time I was there, we ordered an iced tea, which was way too sweet. Tried to take it back to ask if I could just get a regular tea or even a lemonade and it was like pulling teeth: the server reminded me that "iced tea is sweet and no one ever tells us that ours is too sweet" and when I asked for a different drink he seemed totally perplexed. Didn't apologize for the inconvenience or even offer another drink: I had to be really explicit that I didn't like my drink and that I would kindly like something else. He was really ready to just have me walk away with the iced tea that I ordered and that I was unhappy with - for him this was the most obvious outcome. Was a bit disappointed that I wasn't offered the option of having something else that wasn't well made. What does homemade, pre-made iced tea cost anyways: 0.30 EUR?
This is not the whole serving staff by the way. Some of them are super fantastic and super friendly. It's just a few bad apples that we've had in the past that have made it a less than ideal experience. Or they're just extremely understaffed when busy.
Unfortunately after last time, we agreed that we'll probably come here less often than our typical 2x a week, just because there are other places with better service. Would still overall though encourage people to go and check it out for themselves. It's still a cool place in the 'hood and they do make...
Read moreBad communication, appreciate the language barrier and confusion but an honest mistake (mostly from my timidness in the face of a member of wait staff who didn't seem able to communicate what was on offer in English-which is fine-I don't expect that) was quite unpleasant. I asked for the menu, the person I saw said he'd just tell me what was on it, asked me what sort of thing I was after, I said something with salad, he said there wasn't anything and mumbled a few incomprehensible options, I heard the word fruit and thought that'll do. I knew I wasn't 100% sure what I'd agreed to but what I was given was to my palate, inedible. It was a doughy, bitter tasting crepe with a few sad bits of pear and kiwi on it. It was a horrible dish, had it not been, my not fully knowing what it was going to be would not have mattered. I don't like conflict, I was frazzled from travelling earlier in the day and I panicked, I tried to be polite about the fact it was awful and ended up making things worse by seeming petty. I understand the frustration from the point of the manager, but to be treated with such scorn felt unneccessary. I will practice being more forthright in the future as clearly that is how it's done here and not like wherever I'm from, apparently,...
Read moreVery disappointed with this place. I went for a “brunch” but there is no such during the week. The choice of the menu is 2-3 dishes, of which I chose omlette with mushrooms. The size of the portion is for a kid (maybe even a kid will not be satisfied) with half toast of bread and 2 leafs of lettuce. The omlette itself is made from 2 eggs and some mushrooms - tasteless and full with oil, maybe to compensate the lack of ingredients and spices. I underlined that I want coke without sugar and they served me “natural coke” which gratefully I checked the ingredients- was with normal canned sugar, which is a problem for someone having to avoid sugar. The caffe latte is simple cappuccino, which for its price was absolutely not worth it. No other alternative to cow milk rather than oat milk. No sweetener or other alternative to sugar for the coffee . I would suggest people that are hungry to go to the nearby places, otherwise you risk to pay very pricey meal and leave hungry. Maybe it is a good place if you want to sit and read a book or stay on your moment...
