Ootre Sjoose — Restaurant in Sint-Niklaas

Travelling through and we were looking for a place to have a quick bite and most place we asked were already full.

We arrived at 8:30 in the evening (quite late) and they still served us.

Since we arrived late we didn’t order entrees and went only for mains. We had a Chateaubriand and a Flemish specialty called Stoofvlees.

We were served an amuse bouche which was a thick carrot soup with green onion, chives and sesame seems. This was very good and a nice way to lower the waiting time before our mains would arrive.

Our main dishes were exquisite. The Chateaubriand meat was tender and the mushroom sauce accompanying it was delicious. The Stoofvlees was really amazing with the slow cooked meat being extra tender with not one piece of fat in the dish.

While on a long road trip, arrived 25 min before their closing time and they said they would still be happy to serve us. Got a super nice quality meal with a little soup for starter (which we didn’t even order it was just included), and a very tasty chateaubriand with mushroom sauce which paired perfectly. Nice and kind staff, very thankful to have had a warm tasty meal...

Zeer goed gelegen bistro rond de grote markt van Sint-Niklaas. Klein met beperkt aantal plaatsen. Aangenaam en rustig interieur zonder muziek op de achtergrond (of amper hoorbaar). Ideaal om kort te vergaderen tijdens een lunch. Leuke en goed zittende stoelen. Voor deze lunch kozen wij een spaghetti en een bordje scampi 🍤 met look roombotersaus met een voldoende grote portie heerlijke frieten. De weliswaar vele scampi’s roken niet helemaal fris bij het opdienen, maar waren goed van smaak met de saus. Niet slecht, maar hier mist een ster. De spaghetti, opgediend met een extra portie gemengde en geraspte kaas, ging er bij het gezelschap zonder meer goed in. Ik nam aanvankelijk een theetje dat in een mooi glas werd gepresenteerd. De ober vergat te vragen of ik bij het eten graag iets anders wilde. Aanrader: paste wel bij de scampi. Ideaal plekje helemaal voorin met zicht op de markt...
