't Torentje — Restaurant in Veurne

Terrible service and even worse attitude. We waited over an hour for two fried dishes and one steak tartare. The waitress was abrupt and even made an obscenity in front of customers when she realized there was no cutlery.

I ordered one croquette but was told the chef would only make two — and they turned out bland, tasteless, and frozen. When we politely mentioned this while paying our €110 bill, the chef came out angry, said we had “no taste,” and slammed our change on the counter.

During a long weekend trip to Veurne, my husband and I had dinner one night at 't Torentje. One of the specials that night was Kaldereta, a Filipino dish that also happens to be my (Filipina) mother's favorite, although their variation used pig tongue. I'd never had pig tongue, but I ordered it and it has become one of the absolute best meals I've ever had, and I couldn't wait to call my mom and tell her about it. Delightful restaurant. We came to visit this beautiful town and were looking for a restaurant for lunch. We got hooked in by the specials board outside. The place is run by a husband and wife team. The food was wonderful - some of the best we've had in Belgium. Calamari starter was so tender & crunchy. We both had pastas with the most stunning flavours.
