Ben's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Ypres

Absolutely amazing place. BENS BAR is now our definitely must go to place in Ypres. Fanny and Patrick are a superb couple, excellent food, excellent beer, excellent atmosphere. I CANNOT recommend the place enough. It is very small though, so large groups just won't physically fit in.

Fanny is like a Mam away from home.(thank you for not giving me pints of that beer I liked, I learned the hard way).

Stopped here for a quick snack, ended up stying for the great people.

We had great Trappist beer, fries with rosemary salt (we forgot to ask the ratio of salt to rosemary from the owner so we can make it at home in Canada), and wonderful conversation with the owners and guests. They made us feel very welcome and even shared that they had members of their family in Edmonton. A friend and I were planning on stopping in Bruges on a little road trip but had a look at Ypres on Google maps and saw how highly rated this place was, so we made a detour. So glad we did. All of the other reviews say it all — super cosy and friendly bar with great beer and amazing food. I’d put the burger up there with the best I’ve ever had.
