Captain cook — Restaurant in Ypres

We had pre booked our group of 15 well in advance for 20.30. None of us were served our meal before 22.00 ! Many of us wanted to leave it but had not eaten all day. The service was terrible with a sullen head waitress begrudgingly taking our orders. My meal was Flemish stew which may as well have been called Flemish salt. Many in our group had the same.. and all agreed. We were having 4 nights in Ypres and never used the place again. It was a truly awful dining experience.. never again... well the reply has just been brought to my attention.. strange and wrong to say the least. We were a well dressed suited and respectful group most in our 60s and we had just taken part in a wreath laying at the Menin gate. I can assure you we were NOT the group you described. The usual exceptionally high standard of service...always welcomed and served with a smile even on very busy nights like tonight and the food is never short of perfection....tonight however i had to listen to something totally unacceptable from a group of English men....men who should know better from thier age.... the attitude and comments as they left were nothing short of shameful and embarressing. It appears that after the kitchen had closed....the hours are displayed on the front door like most restaurants..... they requested deserts.... i had to listen to several of them make appalling remarks about the service one even made a veiled threat of commenting on trip advisor!!!!! He had the cheek to ask for a discount too!!!! ARE YOU SURE??????TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL!!!! To the Captain Cook team.... thank you again for a wonderful evening.... we will be back...

On behalf of our party of 10, can I say thank you very much for your great hospitality yesterday evening. It made a great change to see staff that was pleasant, smiling and seemed genuinely happy for our custom. Your restaurant was beautifully decorated. The food was choice was plentiful and satisfied all of our needs. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful and the portions were just right.
