Marcello — Restaurant in Banja Luka

I used to be a regular customer but I will never visit again. I do not eat animal products so in restaurants, such as these, my food option is limited, which I understand. In other countries I would order 4-5 side dishes such as mushrooms, rice, salad etc. mix them and eat them. I came to Marcello with two of my friends and one of them was from Zagreb which left not a nice picture in his mind for what happened next. First, I look at food menu and it shows they have "posni" cakes which is basically a vegan cake. When I asked for it, waiter responded: "Fasting has ended!" Then I asked can I mix a couple of side dishes. When I wanted to order that, waiter told me is their policy to not allow customers to order side dishes only. I was sitting with two more friends who ordered their food and their side dish, but waiter explained to me I can only order mushrooms, rice and salad if I order main dish. You see, I love to travel and I have been to many countries. Nobody complained if I were to other a couple of side dishes. In Zagreb, Prague...you name it. My friend from Zagreb said that could've never happened there and he was really shocked. He is right. Waiter showed me something "similar" to side dishes I wanted to order but it had products in it that I do not eat. I used to order risotto here, but they put so much onion in it nowadays, it became uneatable. That is why I decided to order mushrooms, rice, salad and pizza dressing. However, they forbade it. So, I ordered a cup of coffee, which I did not drink because I felt like I wanted to cry. Not only that waiter was really rude, he seemed like he doesn't care if we were to stand up and leave. My friends wanted to leave but I did not want to make a scene and just sat there and smiled. I will never go back here nor will I recommend this unfriendly and "no side dish" place to anyone. I swear, this can only happen in Banja Luka. Shameless.

Also, it is not good for children at all. Smoking area has only 5 chairs. So, if you are a pregnant woman or with children, you better hope those 5 seats are not taken....

Nisam osoba koja dijeli negativne recenzije. Uvijek smatram da nije svačiji okus ili ukus isti da ne mora meni biti dobro ako nekome je ili obratno. No danas nakon stotine restorana moram ostaviti primjedbu koja je katastrofalna. Dakle raspitivati smo se kad smo dobili ponudu što naručit. Uzeli smo najskuplju mesnu platu. Nitko nam nije rekao da ćemo čekati na hranu 1.20 min a kamoli da kuhinja ne radi kako treba, da nemaju namirnice i da se odmah može dobiti samo pizza capricciosa jer sve drugo nije kako treba. Nakon 50min čekanja smo čuli konobara kako to govori za susjednim stolom. Nakon odlaska za šank rečeno je da se servira. Ljudi moji mene je bilo sram ista reci kad je stiglo za stol a i kolegu sam ispod stola s nogom da šuti. Nabacano jedno na drugo. Karađoredeva šnicla - strasno Pohrana salama i sir uz jedan kao rezanac tanko mesa. Nekakvu ostaci sa roštilja nabacani među povrće sa umakom. Nikada ali nikada tako nešto nisam vidjela Nikada. Pokusali smo jesti jer smo bili jako gladni, ali nije išlo želudac se dizao. Rekli smo uljudno. Konobarica se ispricavala, a kad smo rekli da se javi gazdi. Kaže zvala ga je i zaključak je da se tako servira. Ostavili smo 90 maraka i nisu bitni novci Mogli su uz ispriku bar piće ponuditi. Jer ljudi su ljudi. Mogli su reci da narucimo pizzu ili sendvic.
