Mangue Restaurante Atins — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata de Barreirinhas

This restaurant is popular with excursion tour groups to Lençóis Maranhenses from Atins.

It is on a main thoroughfare through the village.

Their food is good.

Service is excellent.

The large windows & wall fans help provide relief from the heat & humidity.

If you like cheese, they serve it generously.

If you like your coffee black & strong, you will enjoy their expresso.

We enjoyed their fresh fish: prepared, cooked & presented simply ... but tastefully.

Here, looking out from inside the restaurant, you will be able to see an understated 2-bedroom house (with a water tower) behind dried palm fencing just across the sandy street on the right about 30 metres away ... this newly built luxury-rustic home, in our opinion, is the best designed and one of the most comfortable place you can stay in Atins.

It has a very spacious interior that is well-ventilated and fully furnished with all the modern comforts; front & back garden terraces; both bedrooms have air-conditioning; and the outdoor washrooms are like those in Bali with alfresco under-the-sky rain showers.

We stayed there for 4 blissful nights.

P. S. You might consider keeping a bit of leftover from your meal for some of the stray dogs around Atins.

It looks like no one here cares for them. :-(

They are obviously neglected and undernourished ... just skin and bones. :-(

Visitamos o Restaurante Mangue que é a filial de Atins do conhecido restaurante que fica em Barreirinhas. Tem um salão bem grande, em ambiente de teto alto, mas arejado, com muitos lugares e caixas de som com um palco para música ao vivo - quando fomos entre as duas ondas de pandemia estava tranquilo e em uma almoço éramos os únicos lá. O atendimento foi rápido, um tanto mais impessoal (pareciam novos), mas sem problemas.

O cardápio tem muitas opções e várias coisas diferentes do que a cidade costuma ter, usando ingredientes e combinações diferentes de ingredientes regionais, inclusive usando queijo com frutos do mar que apesar de ser uma combinação meio controversa mundo afora, parece ser bem sutil aqui.

Possui pratos à base de peixes, camarão e carne (de frango e bovina) - o preço dos pratos é muito bom e as porções são BEM grandes mesmo, dão fácil para de duas a três pessoas.

Pedimos o Peixe a Lençóis para dois (filé de peixe branco, com molho de bacuri e castanha de caju, acompanhado de salada e arroz branco) e para beber água e suco de coco. Tudo era bem farto e bem preparado, e a combinação de bacuri com castanha era perfeita...o suco de coco era ótimo - muito refrescante.

A conta saiu no total para duas pessoas 122 R$, dando um custo-benefício muito bom. Vale a pena a visita para provar algo diferente do que é geralmente servido na cidade - ficamos com vontade de voltar para provar mais coisas mas não deu...
