Restaurante do Jajá is a gem. We had the anchova na brasa (wood-grilled Spanish mackerel), and it was truly out of this world—perfectly cooked, deeply flavorful, and easily one of the best fish dishes I’ve had anywhere. As someone who travels often and seeks out local culinary highlights it’s easy to say that Jajá, the chef and his wife Juju deserve recognition… a Michelin star should find their way to this quaint and memorable restaurant.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive, offering a complimentary shot of cachaça and genuine hospitality throughout the meal.
This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a local treasure. I would recommend this place not only to Brazilians but to any traveler looking to experience the very best of Brazilian seafood in an authentic and memorable setting.

Read moreBest food and service we had in Floripa! The fried fish (carapeva) was delicious and the only proper fried fish we found in floripa (kind of what you’d have in the northeast). My partner had the vegan moqueca and the seasoning was amazing. You also need to order a Jabuticaba caipiroska. For families with babies, they have a changing mat in the bathroom (suuuuper clean) and they made a special meal without salt for my baby - a barbecued fish!
It’s a family run business and they are incredibly welcoming

I would recommend coming here with an appetite and try the different appetizers.
