Familia Scharder - Restaurante Alemão — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata de Petrópolis

I regret that my high expectations for this place, based mostly on reviews here, were not met at all today. I was at first quite pleased to see a wheat beer on the menu, my first after 2 weeks in Brazil. It even bore the name of the restaurant, so I guessed it was a signature product. Unfortunately, there were actually only 2 beers available, neither of them the house Weiss.

The schnitzel seemed like a good bet, but being a German restaurant, fries with that seemed a bit less than authentic. When we asked to upgrade to spaetzle in lieu of fries, our request was declined. "The schnitzel is served with French fries". Perhaps too un-German to be changing things, even on a Friday evening when we were the only patrons in the house.

The schnitzel arrived along with the spaetzle entree we ordered so we could get what we wanted to eat. The spaetzle was good, perhaps a bit salty, but tasty enough. The schnitzel was very tough, clearly less than a prime cut of veal, if it was veal. And the breading tasted of overused oil or oil used to cook fish.

I do hope they'll do better. But I won't be back...

Estou a trabalho em Petrópolis, sozinho, sem muita coisa pra fazer além do próprio trabalho. Nessas ocasiões, gosto de investir parte do tempo livre conhecendo o local, sua história (e Petrópolis tem muita) e peculiaridades. E a culinária sem dúvida é parte muito importante na "exploração" de qualquer lugar. Petrópolis tem forte influência alemã, então me pus a procurar um restaurante do gênero. Não são muitos e esse chamou a atenção pelo preço aparentemente honesto. Fica em um bonito casarão muito bem conservado, aconchegante apesar do teto alto e da decoração pobre, tocado pela família que dá nome ao estabelecimento e que imigrou da Alemanha na época de Dom Pedro II. Inclusive eu usaria as prováveis fotos acumuladas em mais de um século de história para decorar o salão.

O cardápio é bom, razoavelmente variado, com todos os pratos "introdutórios" a cozinha alemã. Pedi o popular Currywurst. Estava ótimo. A salsicha branca perfeita mas que não é feita na casa. Pena que veio cortada já, em rodelas, na minha opinião tirando um pouco do charme do prato (mas dando volume), nada fundamental também. A salsicha naturalmente estava acompanhada de batatas fritas e pela estrela do prato, o molho a base de curry feito na casa, muito saboroso (segundo o rapaz, filho do chefe e dono do estacionamento, já tentaram comprar a receita). Prato muito bom, farto e com preço honesto. Na sequência veio um prato gentilmente montado por eles, atendendo a um pedido meu. Eu queria comer um pouco de Eisbein (joelho de porco), mas como eu estava sozinho e o prato é bem grande, eles inteligentemente abriram uma exceção montado um prato "executivo" com Eisbein (que estava muito bom), salada de batatas (esse item particularmente descepcionol apesar da maionese caseira e fresca mas sem sal e muito pouco azedo da mostarda) e chucrute (bem gostoso mas sem sal também. Acrescentei um pouquinho de mostarda escura e ficou ótimo). Tomei um chopp feito pela casa, leve e bom e uma água com limão (que aliás me surpreendeu pelo preço, apenas R$ 4). Conta: R$ 78 já com 10%. Preço muito honesto e comida boa. Ótimo...

Ich habe kürzlich bei Familia Scharder - Restaurante Alemão gegessen und leider war meine Erfahrung alles andere als zufriedenstellend. Als Fan der deutschen Küche war ich gespannt darauf, ihre Gerichte zu probieren, besonders die Currywurst, aber was ich erhielt, war ziemlich enttäuschend.

Beim Bestellen einer Currywurst wurde mir stattdessen eine Weißwurst mit Currysauce serviert. Jeder, der deutsche Würste kennt, weiß, dass Currywurst etwas ganz Besonderes ist und nicht mit Weißwurst verwechselt werden sollte, die eine völlig andere Textur und Geschmack hat. Nachdem ich meine Bedenken dem Personal mitteilte, ersetzten sie es durch eine Bockwurst mit Currysauce, was zwar ein Schritt näher war, aber immer noch nicht die Currywurst, die ich bestellt hatte. Es fühlte sich an, als ob sie versuchten, jede Wurst mit Currysauce als Currywurst auszugeben, was einfach inakzeptabel ist.

Das Menü zeigte deutlich eine richtige Currywurst, also war ich baff und frustriert über die Ersatzwürste. Wenn dem Restaurant die Currywurst ausgegangen wäre, hätte ich Ehrlichkeit über diese Farce bevorzugt. Es ist, als würde man Huhn bestellen und Fisch serviert bekommen – völlig unterschiedlich und nicht das, was versprochen wurde.

Zu allem Überfluss war die Currysauce selbst fade. Sie fehlte an dem kräftigen Geschmack und der Würze, die man von einer guten Currysauce erwartet. Sie war langweilig und hat das Gericht in keiner Weise verbessert.

Zusammenfassend war meine Erfahrung bei Familia Scharder enttäuschend aufgrund der sorglosen Ersatzwürste und der minderwertigen Currysauce. Dieses Restaurant könnte für andere Gerichte einen Besuch wert sein, aber ich würde davon abraten, die Currywurst zu bestellen, es sei denn, man möchte ein Ratespiel mit seinem...
