Restaurante Chez Bernard — Restaurant in Região Geográfica Imediata de Salvador

This restaurant is the definition of classic French fine dining, from the menu to the décor. Opened in 1963 by Chef Bernard Goethals, this is the oldest restaurant offering French cuisine in Salvador. The current chef is Laurent Rezette, a Belgian who has lived in Salvador for over 20 years and has worked in many upscale restaurants. The restaurant's decoration compares favorably with the best restaurants I have visited, but the place feels like a casual setting, as you are treated as if you have arrived home. Our waiter Nelson was excellent. The menu is the most classic you are going to come across, which I enjoyed, because you will usually find one or 2 items on a menu, but not an entire menu. Foie gras, quiche, soufflé, coq au vin and crêpes Suzette are just some of the items they have to offer. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the Bay of All Saints (“Bahia de Todos os Santos”), which was discovered by Amerigo Vespucci in 1501. They are open for lunch and dinner, and I am sure that whenever you eat here, you will have a wonderful meal and experience, but if you have to choose, I recommend making a lunch reservation, so you can enjoy...

Wir hatten einen Tisch mit 5 Personen am Fenster, wunderbarer Blick. Der Empfang war erstklassig und freundlich. Die Raumtemperatur erinnerte an einen Gefrierschrank und die Klimaanlage stand auf 20 Grad. Warum? Nach unserer Bitte, die Temperatur zu erhöhen, wurde sie auf 22 Grad erhöht. Danach war es mit Pullover auszuhalten. Die Auswahl an Drinks war gut und geschmacklich waren Kir Royal und Negroni in Ordnung, die Cuba Libre etwas schwach. Die Hauptgerichte haben dann alle sehr zufrieden gestellt, wir hatten Fisch, Shrimps, Rinderfilet und Ente. Die Ente wurde besonders gelobt! Die Desserts waren ebenfalls sehr gut, besonders die Creme brullé und Crêpes Suzette. Die Teeauswahl war leider überschaubar und nicht hochklassig. Der Kaffee kam leider aus einer Nespressomaschine und war daher geschmacklich kein Highlight. Die Kellner waren sehr freundlich, durch die eng gestellten Tische mussten wir immer wieder helfen, was kein großes Problem war, aber die Konversation störte. Zucker zum Tee und Kaffee musste immer extra bestellt werden. Auf eine Laktoseintoleranz wurde gut reagiert, auch wenn man sich damit wohl nicht so gut auskannte. Insgesamt ist das Restaurant einen Besuch wert, vor allem wegen der nett gestalteten Räume und den sehr gut zubereiteten...
