This elegant restaurant, nestled high on a hill in a condominium complex in the "Cidade Baixa", serves amazing shellfish and fish.
Following the rather small couvert, my friend and I ordered the scallops as an appetizer, consisting of three scallops cooked in a delicious sauce and served on the half-shell.
For our main entrees, my friend ordered the prawn risotto, not a risotto in the usual sense because the rice was presented braised in small cubes, each about the size of a Tater-Tot. Nevertheless, he was pleased with this entree, which we shared, and which was noteworthy for the medium sized prawns and the accompanying asparagus.
I ordered, and we also split, the seafood assortment, which included two half lobsters, several large prawns, octopus, squid, and salmon. All of the seafood items on that platter were superb, with a special call out to the salmon, lobster, and prawns.
The restaurant has a nice and fairly reasonably priced wine list. We ordered a crisp Chilean chardonnay that served as a perfect accompaniment to our seafood platters.
Mistura Contorno is not inexpensive, even by U.S. fine restaurant standards. We each spent R$ 270 (about US$ 85 at the February 2018 exchange rate). But the value of the meal, along with the excellent service of the garçons, was well worth the price.
Addendum on 4 March 2019: I had such a fond memory of Mistura Contorno that I returned to this restaurant today with a different friend. And we were not disappointed! Besides the amazing views, this restaurant looking out over the Todos Os Santos bay has some fabulous seafood.
We started with a tender lobster as an appetizer, followed by a pasta adorned with baby clams and mussels. As the main dish, we enjoyed a combination seafood medley, including shrimp, squid, octopus, lobster, scallops, and salmon. We capped the dinner with a tasty dessert with bananas flambeed in a caramel sauce topped by vanilla ice cream.
Of course, we enjoyed the Brazilian national drink, a traditional caipirinha made with cachaça, as well as a refreshing glass of an Italian white wine. Just as I noted in my 2018 review, I highly recommend Restaurante...
The restaurant Mistura Contorno is located on the hill by Contorno Avenue overlooking All Saints Bay, the marina and Itaparica Island. It's menu contains diverse dish options including seafood, risottos, pasta and meat. It also contains some typical dishes like moqueca. I believe it can be classified as contemporary cuisine, even though some local ingredients are used, such as licuri. It is relatively expensive compared to other restaurants of the capital of Bahia, but this is justifiable by the special locations,...
