My wife an I ordered two dishes which we shared: The fillet mignon on gorgonzola and sweet potatoes and the grilled chicken on pineapple sauce. There were two waiters, an Argentinian and a Brazilian, both very attentive and friendly. We sat on the street but you can also eat indoors. The outside is on a cobblestone street with an irregular surface so if you're eating there expect your table and chair to be a bit wobbly, we chose an OK one, not great, but manageable. The first table we tried wasn't so we switched. We got there at around 2030 (8:30 PM) on a November Monday (the 18th to be precise).
They usually have some sort of musician playing on the street. We were lucky and got a decent one. He sat at a comfortable distance and we had no trouble talking to each other. We were charged 10 reais for it on our bill and it wasn't disclosed beforehand. No big deal, just saying.
We waited what must have been a bit over 40 mins for our order. The food was really good. I ordered the fillet medium rare but they served it almost medium well. Seems to be a pattern around these parts. Try to order it "almost bleeding", that seems to work. The sweet potato puree and gorgonzola sauce are an interesting combination and makes for a well rounded dish. My wife wasn't too crazy about the chicken, but I liked it. The pineapple sauce worked for me. It was a good move ordering both dishes and sharing. We both enjoyed it very much.
Craft beers around these parts aren't anything to write home about, so manage your expectations. I had the Chapada IPA and Belgian. The IPA was drinkable, again, don't be too judgmental. The Belgian on the other hand could use some work.
My wife had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, Maria something, can't remember. She enjoyed it.
Food + 2 craft beer bottles + glass of wine + waiters 10% + musician fee came to a grand total of 179,40 reais.
All around I would definitely recommend paying this place a visit. It's ranked #1 on...
Read moreWent here with high expectations after hearing very good reviews. The starter and juice was fine but the main dishes and service were terrible. I ordered the beef risotto which was more of a fondue than risotto due to the extraordinary amount of melted parmesan cheese. Couldn't see or taste any rice or meat. Just cheese. Was disgusting. Definitely not a risotto. When we complained about the dish the waiter just argued and complained that as we had asked for no butter or mozzarella then of course the dish wouldn't work... I couldn't imagine the dish with even more cheese. We then proceeded to over-hear that the waiter complaining to the chef about us just a few metres away. Which was very uncomfortable.
My partner ordered the fish in banana leaf expecting a good amount of fish but it was just one small fillet. There were far more side dishes than main dish. Way too much beans and too much coconut in the rice. The chef really needs to really sort out the portion sizes and proportion of ingredients in their dishes. As they simply don't work.
To make matters worse it seems as though I got food poisoning from my food as I've been very sick since...
Read moreHonestly the BEST meal I've had on our 15 day trip with family. Why? Because they had fantastic and unique vegan options for us since we don't eat animals. We tried their jackfruit croquettes for an appetizer which were TO DIE FOR. We had a gluten free jackfruit meat pancake with arugula (another phenomenal dish) and their fettuccine with cashew cream (SO good)! I didn't want the food to end, it was that good! And totally unexpected that we found this place because there are so many choices up and down the streets of...
