Highly recommend! Only lost one star for service due to a less than friendly hostess who did not seem happy to see us, or find the reservation we’d made via google. After that awkward bit they showed us to a cozy table underneath a tree with a glass ceiling to the night sky above us.
This restaurant also only has electronic menus which forces the group to stare at their phones. I really restaurant would stop this. It’s an ambiance ruiner. Diners want to hold their menus aloft and speak to each other—ugh I say. Ugh to menus on phones.
So then it took them a fairly long time to take our drink order. But after that they got their stride and provided excellent service.
The vibe there is killer. Dimly lit, low coz tables with a two piece band singing swaying tunes. The singer had a beautiful voice and a frankly very amazing whistle that he showed off in one song.
Food was mouth watering. We had a salmon hand roll—it was truffled and amazing. Then salmon belly rolls —I’ll be having dreams about these.
Then we had the broiled Hake which I’d never had and was delicious. It came with rice and inexplicably not very good potato chips. That was really the only off note.
My beautiful bride had the filet mignon which was a tad bit past “a ponto” but still very good. Can’t...
Read moreMediocre at its best… being used to high class nyc restaurants like Gemma of the Bowery hotel, the outlook and menu of Vasto called my attention. However, the promise of a high end place stops there on the promise. I had the Thai salad which tasted good but with so much oil it made the food lose its flavor. The Meat was cooked to a perfection tho. For drinks I’ve ordered an espresso martini which the bartender seemed to have issues remembering how to prepare which was later confirmed by himself who confessed to having being put in that position for only a week. It was waterish, blend and with too much foam. Afterwards I’ve ordered a clover club, which is known for its sweet flavor. However it was served with an orange on top ruining its sweet flavor with a citrus taste and aroma. When I questioned the bartender he said that this was how he was told to do. I’ve asked to speak to the manager and a short bald guy showed up giving me attitude about how he doesn’t know how They do it where I come from but that this is how they do it there. I paid my tab and left… they need to learn a lot about gourmet food, drinks and good service in order to provide the type of experience...
Read moreReally nice atmosphere. Food was hit and miss. Barata salad and carpaccio were very tasty. Burger was good too but fries tasted like they were reheated. Service was very slow. It seemed like they had a lot of staff but they all just stood around and weren’t very perceptive or observant. We ordered a drink and had to literally get up to walk over to a staff member to ask when it was going to come. And did it a second time and he didn’t seem to be too worried about the fact that we waited over a half an hour for a drink. There was also piles of dishes that were dirty all over the counter and it just seems like the staff is very disorganized and doesn’t seem too concerned about it. Went to Belini twice since then and the service was exceptional...
