If you want to visit this place, you probably already know where you are going to and what to expect from a crazy brazilian favela. After you make if from your Hotel / AirBnB to the Vigidal square, take a local moto-taxi or van to climb up, refuse all the offers of all the anoying people offering you services and goods that you did not ask for.. walk a bit through a typical garbade, you finaly make it to this bar or restaurant. But here is the place, where all the robbery begins! First you have to pay an entrance fee of 70-80 Reales just to enter the place. I has a nice view, but if you want to take some pictures with your own drone, they wont let you. Then it comes to orderding food or drinks. We ordered Feijoada with some hot tea (because of the freezing wind). The Feijoada was one of the worst I have ever tried and the tea never came, even we asked 3x and instead of apologizing, they were argueing that we did not ask for it (my company was a brazilian, fluently speaking portuguese). After that we asked for pepper in desperate need of make something better about the food. But they told us that there is no pepper. One of the nice things about the stuff here would be, that they offerd us some blankets because of the cold air, good... but! When we were leaving the place, paying at the exit, they charged us these blankets 500 reales each, because we did not bring them back and left them at the table. Fortunately one waitress brought them back for us so they deleted it from the bill. But all this customer approach, bad food, arguing all the time in all situations! I cannot recomment this place to anybody. You can probably get a similar picture from another place in Rio and wont be so disapointed by...
Read moreIf I'm not mistaken this is only favela in Rio de Janeiro where tourist can go safely. You can get to the foot of the hill by bus or taxi. But that's it. From there only way up to the top is to take a ride on motorcycle or old school volkswagen Van by local favela residents. Please make sure you don't take any pictures or videos when you go up to the bar. They don't like it and you can have a problem. Bar in strangely on top of the hill in overcrowded favela. It's quite spacious with live music when we got there. View is unbelievable and service very fast. It was full there and everyone was drinking and we didn't wait for ours caipirinhas even 5 minutes. Food was good, but the view and atmosphere were out of this world. Great place, amazing drinks and food and very friendly people. When you are visiting Rio de Janeiro this...
Read moreThis experience was nice, it’s hard to get there because Uber won’t go up into the favela, so you go to the base of the hill (end of leblon) and take a car or motorbike up the mountain.
The place closed early but the view is nice. There are 2 other bars right below this one so you are there with other tourists.
We only had time for a round of drinks, but you pay $50 reals each just to get inside then drinks and food is a little pricier.
Really friendly waiter, front desk was okay.
Drinks were nice and the view was really great, it was cool they allowed this experience in their neighborhood.
We paid like $30 real to a bus driver to take us down the mountain, they seem to come at closing time.
I recommend going with someone who...
