At first you walk up to Hedi’s restaurant and realized it was his living room that we walk into first. I thought “Do we have the right place?” There was a party going on in the pizzeria space in the back for one of his friends so it felt like we were crashing the party 🎉. As we looked at the menu Hedi himself was so welcoming and helpful and directed us to some empty seats (lucky for us the view was nothing below amazing). He is French but speaks English Spanish and of course Portuguese. He was kind to ask us which language we preferred with no hesitation. English we said. Although I wish I knew more languages! Never would I imagine I would have this view while eating a pizza. It was a nice vibe to the place. You can really tell that he cares for his guests and you sort of feel like he is a friend of yours by the end of the night because he makes an effort to talk to everyone! It’s like meeting with him at home which is essentially what we were doing. The pizza was great! We had the one named after Hedi which he suggested (I forgot the actual name) and pepperoni 🍕. Both delicious. We had two beers and a caparinha to wash it down. At closing we were not rushed out and just had a few minutes to spare to capture the view. We left with a warm goodbye from Hedi and a best of times for our stay in Rio. Thank you Hedi for making dinner an experience to remember ! Good luck and thanks for the perspective of life & travel!

Read moreA bit out from the tourist areas of Rio but well worth the Uber ride!! Pizza and views were amazing and the owner was very welcoming and friendly.
How to get there: You should be near a gated driveway when parked or dropped off. There is a sidewalk to the right of the gates. Take that all the way up to the favela. The entrance to the restaurant is on the first right and up the stairs. There is a white door on the left, pull the string to open and walk up the stairs. Walk through the living room area and outside. You will find the wonderful staff in the...
