This is the best Peruvian food I’ve had outside of Peru in my entire life, and I’ve gone through all the Peruvian restaurants in chicago, San Francisco, etc. Good price, good portions, and above all, excellent flavor. Everything was bursting with flavors and spices. Try the causa with ceviche. The ceviche is perfectly tender and the causa is the perfect texture and consistency. It blew me away. Sometimes food will be so impactful that you remember it for years afterward and if you can, you continue to visit that restaurant as much as you can. This is one of those places. I can also recommend the seafood rice (the one with tigers milk) and the anticucho. Though it’s the best anticucho I’ve had outside of Peru, it would be a lot better if the pieces were slightly thicker. It’s not supposed to be quite so thin.
Service is great too, the food comes out really quickly and the people are very nice. I can also recommend the Cusquenita. It’s like a smoothie with incredible tropical flavors.
The area is my only complaint. It’s legitimately scary outside. I would NOT come here on...
Read moreFantastic place overall.
The food was delicious, the flavors were rich, and at the same time everything is well balanced – the vegetables, and the meats, and the rice/beans are in perfect combination.
The portions are HUGE. I expected the ceviche to be more like an appetizer but it felt like the guys in the kitchen put the entire damn fish in there. Not complaining, though. Went in very hungry and left very full.
The atmosphere is pleasant – the interior is cozy and well-done, and despite the limited space didn't feel crammed.
The service was nice and the food came decently fast – maybe 5-10 minutes for the ceviche and another 5-10 for the entree after I was done with that.
Will be coming back here.
P.S.: specifying the price: I feel like most people could get full with one dish only, so 80-100 reais...
Read moreOur evening at "The Forgetful Ceviche Hideaway" was nothing short of a comedy of errors. Our waiter's memory could rival a goldfish's, resulting in forgotten orders and a missing tacu tacu that my friend had been yearning for. The ceviche arrived sans sweet potato, and the corn tasted straight from a can, leaving us in despair. One of the waiters was very nice though. To apologize for their culinary mishaps, we were served a Pisco Sour that tasted more like a garage's fuel blend than a cocktail. Adding to the spectacle, the Arctic air conditioning had us reaching for warm blankets. In the end, it was an unforgettable evening, though not exactly for the right reasons, and to add to our astonishment, no discount...
