I tried to go to this bar many times and could not enter due to the huge waiting line (something like 30 tables before my call) and I think that this might have influenced my high expectations for the place.
The main problem with Nicolau is the excessive noise. I went there with some friends and we couldn't hear each other. There is a lot of loud voices sound and you and barely hear the music. The open kitchen concept contributes to the problem.
Related to the open kitchen, as the restaurant serves many fried or fatty dishes, you get this very strong smell of fat all over your clothing and hair. I personally hate this smell. I recommend closing the kitchen with a glass wall so you keep the open concept without compromising the environment of the bar.
Related to the food, I was expecting more. The portions are good sized and the taste is above average, however, I was expecting more mixture of tastes and textures. It might have been a bit too fatty as well, but I think this belongs to the type of cousin.
The drinks were undersized and below the expectations as well. They were either too sweet, or not at the balanced point between the spirit and the other ingredients.
Service is fine. Good suggestions and good timing. Could offer a more digital ordering service (such as tablets with the menu) so the waiters could be more careful with the clients. For example, there was a drink that we order that we didn't like. We tried to talk to the waiter about it but he didn't seem to care..

The food is not as amazing as it's reputation. Some dishes are very fatty and some are not very innovative and too basic. The quality is exceptional and the design is outstanding. However, arriving in the first hour of opening is essential otherwise you will be in line for hours. The aucustic is not great but that's subjective. Péssimo lugar e atendimento pior ainda! Hoje, dia 8/9/2018 eu e meu marido fomos a este buteco e colocamos nosso nome na lista. A atendente informou que havia 4 mesas na nossa frente. Aguardamos por 30 minutos do lado de fora e então, o SMS que anunciava nossa mesa chegou e nos dirigimos à entrada do bar. Neste momento, um casal estava reclamando que passaram outro casal na frente deles e que eles não haviam recebido o SMS. A atendente simplesmente passou esse casal na nossa frente, para evitar um barraco e nos deixou esperando pela nossa mesa. Veio o maître lá de dentro e perguntou--nos se ele havia chamado a gente. Ou seja, ele sequer sabia que tinha nos chamado pelo SMS. Eu respondi que sim e lhe mostrei o SMS. Ele então nos conduziu adentro do bar e disse que tínhamos que ficar numa mesa compartilhada. Eu logo respondi que tínhamos pedido mesa para dois e então, ele disse que iria limpar a mesa mas que enquanto isso que esperássemos na mesa compartilhada mesmo. Ficamos lá uns 10 minutos e então, veio um garçom perguntando o que estávamos aguardando. Relatamos o ocorrido e, para nossa surpresa, ele falou que a cozinha ja havia sido encerrada!!! Foi, então, atrás do maître para resolver o problema. Eu e meu marido já estávamos cansados de tanta espera e tamanha falta de respeito da equipe do bar, que resolvemos ir embora para o Boi Prudente, na cidade jardim, que não é restaurante de modinha, mas tem muito mais qualidade e respeito pelos seus clientes. Quando estavamos saindo, encontramos o maître e, pasmem, ele não estava nem se lembrando da gente! Ou seja: nos colocou em pé em uma mesa que não pedimos, mentiu que iria nos colocar na mesa para dois sendo que nem pedidos poderíamos fazer, pois cozinha já estava fechada! Considerações finais: lugar mal localizado, péssimo atendimento, despreparo da equipe, falta de respeito com os clientes. Se depender de mim não verão um centavo meu.
