Бирария Jägerhof - Пловдив — Restaurant in Plovdiv

I just went yesterday afternoon to the beer garden. This was a much better experience than the restaurant. The service was much better and the home made chips were yummy. I did not have a radler as the soda for the radler is not cold - hence the radler would be warm. The restaurant is really nice, the beer garden looks inviting - hence the star. The food and service were awful. Granted this was a Saturday night. Will go again during the week and hope maybe it will be better.

It started with the parking - very few parking spaces so plan on going early to search for a parking space on the street. Parking is only for the hotel guests - not restaurant guests.

I ordered a radler which was served warm. Hello Jagerhof, beers and radlers are supposed to be served cold! Just an FYI for you.

I ordered the burger and fries - pretty straight forward. The fries were only half cooked - still hard. The burger was served with no ketchup or mustard. I had to ask at least 4 times for the two items and after about 15 minutes was finally given ketchup but no mustard! Another 10 MINUTES AND 2 MORE TIMES HAVING TO GET UP FORM THE TABLE AND GO SEARCHING FOR A MANAGER OR ANY CAPABLE STAFF MEMBER (did not seem to be any - I asked the "baker" who was standing doing nothing but he was annoyed I was bothering him!) I was given a small dish of mustard. Unfortunately, it took 25 MINUTES to get the ketchup and mustard that my burger was now COLD! They then had the audacity to CHARGE for the ketchup and mustard!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

Three guests ordered the roast turkey leg. Two arrived and the third came over 30 minutes later. The turkey legs were BOILED!!!!!! NOT ROASTED!!!!! It Did not come anywhere near an oven! WHY JAGERHOF???? By the time it was served, the rest of the party had finished eating. This did not make for an enjoyable evening.

There was a table of four in the corner smoking so much one only saw white plumes of smoke! Electronic cigarettes are allowed in the restaurant but regular smoking is not ???? Did someone actually sit somewhere and think up this rule???? Can we just take a moment to ponder the STUPIDITY OF THIS RULE???

Really a shame as the restaurant is really nice. Maybe one can sit outside in the beer garden. Maybe then one can drink a cold beer in a nice area. Just do not expect much.

EDIT! I did write that the beer garden during the day was good. The radler is NOT served with lemonade as the Jaferhof is claiming as I saw them make it with warm/room temperature soda. Also, in regards to the smoking - seems they are pretending they have no control over this!!! HYSTERICAL! If they would like to make their restaurant non smoking they are more than welcome to! Or an area of smoking only - again they are allowed to.

As for the no ketchup/mustard - I have traveled the world and have always been offered ketchup and mustard with a burger - ESPECIALLY in Germany. And as for the Jagerhof "special sauce" - it would have been nice if I was offered some.

As I stated before, my Bulgarian GF went with us to the beer garden and she ordered some homemade chips - not like the half cooked french fries that came with my burger. These were very tasty. The beers were all served cold - as they should be!

I will try again on a weekday - I hope it will be delicious as the restaurant and beer garden are very inviting...

A huge disappointment!

The food was not tasty, service not great and prices pretty expensive.

We ordered an appetizer and two dishes, the restaurant was almost empty. The first dish came after 20 minutes. We ask the waiter about the appetizer but he could not speak any English. He said he will send someone but no omelette came. After ten minutes the appetizer and second dish came.

The first dish was the chicken schnitzel and fries. It was small and the fries very soggy. The portion size will make a german laugh.

The second dish was polenta with pork tenderloin. The pork was overcooked and the polenta was only one tiny ball divided in half. Again a german would laugh about the quantity. (I am a girl and don’t eat that much and even for me was tiny). The worst was that the dish is supposed to be garnished with gravy sauce, instead of gravy sauce it was garnished with something like siracha which I can’t eat. Since the service was so bad I just let my husband eat it, and ate the appetizer and a bit around instead.

On top of all this the waiter kept coming to collect dishes and glasses when you were barely even done with them. Like I can wait for the food for 30 minutes but I am not even finished with the last piece and my plate is already removed like we are in some kind of fast food restaurant.

Overall the experience was a huge disappointment. The place is neither a german knelle neither a high end restaurant and wants to be a bit both. We will not be...

This is a popular beer house serving German food which offers a wide variety of beer. I am not very fond of this place, I have been there lots of times to listen to the live music band playing there because they are friends of mine.

Their outdoor garden is nice and they have beautiful interior decoration, the toilet is located on the second floor which is kinda inconvenient but at least there is an elevator so that everyone can get to it.

It is extremely noisy and always packed with people so make a reservation if you are planning on going there. The service is ok I guess, I have always had terrible experiences but maybe I am just unlucky. One time we had to wait around 30 minutes after the food was served for someone to bring us a fork and a knife, other times they either ignored us or refused to come to the table at all. It is most probably due the amount of customers they have but that shouldn't be an excuse.

The food is nothing special, it is not awful but it's not good as well, they serve it cold most of the times due to the amount of work they have I think. But even if it's warm, you can find a lot better for the same prices.

Its location in one of the outer neighborhoods of Plovdiv is also not convenient at all as it is quite distant from the city center and any major sites. I go there only for the live music and the beer, nothing else is worth going...
