Happy Bar & Grill is a chain with several restaurants in Bulgaria. We visited the restaurant at Paradise Center which is located near the metro station "Vitosha". The restaurant has a great location in the shopping center and offers both indoor and on the centre's roof terrace. The place boasts a large menu consisting of a variety of salads, soups, hamburgers, seafood, sushi, meat dishes and desserts. The restaurant also has a large bar with a good selection of drinks.
On arrival we were quickly welcomed by a cheerful and service minded employee who quickly showed us to a free table and presented the menu. We were offered to order drinks straight away and the employee kindly answered the questions we had about the various dishes. We chose to order the "Crazy Me" hamburger and the "Mr Cheezy" hamburger respectively.
The employee smiled kindly and wished us a good meal when the hamburgers were served after approx. 18 minutes. Both hamburgers were served with fries, were nicely presented and looked inviting. The "Crazy Me" hamburger was served with brioche bread, caramelized onions, and plenty of melted cheddar cheese. The two pieces of meat in the hamburger had the right chewing resistance, tasted excellent and seemed to be made from fresh and fresh ingredients. The combination of the various elements in the hamburger fit perfectly together and formed a very good taste experience that I will remember for a long time.
The staff followed up well during the meal and we felt well looked after. The level of service from the staff appeared to be very good, despite the fact that there were many guests and a fast pace in the restaurant.
For being a chain restaurant, the place delivered very good service and dining experiences which mean that we will definitely return the next time we are in Bulgaria. I can therefore safely recommend the place to other travelers who want a good meal in informal...
Read moreIt really used to be better. I was there an year ago and it was great, totally, but we went again yesterday and the first thing that really bothered me was reserving a table. Now, I do appreciate the fact that you could do it via an App or a 3rd party website, whatever, but we tried directly from the massive blue button RESERVE. Could not do more than party of 6 ... OK, we called. No one picked up. We went there, asked for a bigger table, were given two next to each other. Fair enough. We were finally all together when a hostess or a manager, not sure, came to us, a bit angry as it seemed, asking - did you already book a table for 6 which you were sitting on and now you moved here?! Well, yes, we did Sherlock and it is a bit of mistake from our end, but we could not book bigger before we came. Sorry. But then she asked like 3 times more the same question like we are children eating all the candy. And all of that happens with a restaurant only half full. Now, at that point we all ignored her but I am not sure what was she aiming for, get us all out because we made a bit of a mess (sorry again!) or ... Food - fast food, small portions, nothing to do with images in the menu. Too warm inside, smells like cigarettes everywhere. Oh, smoking - one of us asked if she/he can use one of those e-cigarettes. Waitress literally said - well, no it fobidden, but if the manager comes tell them you did not know or understand when I told you not to. What the hell, 2nd grade revolution, hahah?!? Best in London but some...
Read moreOur actual server who waited on us was lovely and professional, the other servers/hosts seemed as if they didn't want to be there, and there were a Lot of them, this restaurant is enormous and weirdly just had one toilet 😂 The food we ordered was really average, disappointing because of the award signage everywhere. I had never heard of Happy restaurant until Sophia airport Billboard claimed it was Bulgaria's best restaurant and then was really keen to try it. The aesthetic was great and it was absolutely enormous with many many different sections The hostess who sat us didn't bother showing us around or asking where we would like to sit she just said smoking or no smoking and then sat us at the closest empty table which was super loud with music pumping it would have been much nicer to sit on the terrace or in a quieter section of the restaurant that wasn't so crowded, they were plenty of empty tables in the other sections of the restaurant The section they set us under the front right by the kitchen was filled and the tables were packed super closely together In that area. Overall disappointing but I'd try it again to see if that was a fluke or maybe just that particular location it was at the Paradise Mall and all of the staff that I encountered in that mall seemed like they really didn't want to be at work that day. They also made people line up outside which was weird when once you went in and walked around the restaurant there were plenty of empty tables and a...
