Restaurant Review: A Disappointing Encounter with a Promising Venue
Having frequently driven past this intriguing restaurant, its understated charm and potential hidden gem status often piqued my curiosity. Recently, I decided to satisfy my curiosity and dined there on a long weekend Saturday evening, sans reservation. Thankfully, despite the busy night, we were promptly seated without delay. However, the initial experience was somewhat marred by a noticeable wait before our drink orders were taken or even water brought to our table.
As a first-time visitor, I felt compelled to sample their reputed "famous prime rib." I ordered it medium, paired with roasted potatoes and a soup. Additionally, we chose the spicy prawns and a "Greek" salad. When the food arrived, it initially presented as a stellar meal. Unfortunately, this initial impression quickly dissipated.
The prime rib, the restaurant’s signature dish, was far from the medium doneness I requested. It was almost blue, with a significant portion of it being gristle—approximately 20%—making it nearly inedible. A steak knife struggled to cut through the excessively rare meat. On a positive note, the soup was delightful, and the prawns were commendable. However, the "Greek" salad was a letdown, appearing to be a generic, pre-packaged product rather than a fresh, authentic dish. Considering the restaurant’s upscale pricing and ambiance, one would expect a more genuine attempt at this classic salad, which was disappointingly sparse, featuring only three olives.
Given the price point, with our meal nearing $100 before gratuity, the experience was underwhelming. For those considering a visit, the restaurant's pizza might be a better choice for a casual date night rather than exploring its purportedly "fancy" offerings. Overall, the disparity between the restaurant’s presentation and the actual dining experience left much...
Read moreI hate to give bad reviews but I've never had such horrible customer service until my first visit to this restaurant. I went at 7:30 pm on a Friday evening, entered the restaurant and did not get greeted by anyone for around 5 minutes. There was a lot of staff, not a ton of tables were filled. Once we were finally acknowledged it took them another 10 mins to seat us. Within those 10 mins we needed to use the washroom which was filthy with pee all over the floor. Once we got seated and got our drinks the waitress did not come back to our table until 15 minutes later to take our orders after we made several attempts to get the attention of someone. When we finally got our food I felt someone staring from across the room, I looked up and noticed a waitress staring at me as I ate. I felt so uncomfortable and went back to eating, glanced back up and she was still staring. Once we finished our food (which was the only decent part of this visit) the waitress didn't visit our table for another 15 minutes to give us our bills. I am so unimpressed as I love eating at new places and supporting businesses, but unfortunately for the high price I paid for my meal, I expect good customer service with a reasonable amount of customer interaction which I did not recieve except for the awkward eye contact from across the room which does not count in my books. Again, it was not a busy evening at this restaurant. I was also unimpressed with the open dishwashing area. It did not mesh well with the somewhat fine dining atmosphere they try to portray. It was very distracting and...
Read moreThis USED to be one of my families favourite places to order. My daughter had a brilliant idea to order our favourite pizza we used to get here all the time.Talk about disappointing. It turned us off so badly just the thought of it makes my stomach turn. We could have picked up a boxed pizza from superstore that would have been way better than this. If there was an option for a zero star I would have taken that. What happened you USED to be the best pizza in town! The crust was like cardboard and so hard it wouldn’t bend. We had shrimp on the pizza and maybe had one shrimp per piece. No flavour so bland! I called to let them know and the gal on the phone was quite nice but to offer me half off my next one or get a new pizza. Well this pizza was ruined for us and I couldn’t even entertain the thought of having another one. I asked if we could get another kind maybe one they couldn’t mess up. It was either that or half off the next time we ordered. Like sure I just threw away over $35 for garbage but I’ll pay you half of that for the next one? No thanks. So we get the next one after I asked for it to please not be over cooked like the last one. Got the same thing! I was going to call back as what I would have like them to do is refund me and take their garbage back. After being a customer for maybe over 40 yrs. We will never go back!!! I saw a post very similar a month ago from Cory, clearly they really are not addressing the...
