Wasn't overly impressed with this restaurant today, I ordered the roast beef dinner that comes with mashed potatoes, veggies and Yorkshire pudding. I found the roast beef tender moist and just ever bite of it delicious, with absolutely no grissel or chewy fatty parts. The veggies were soft and easy to eat so no complaints there. Now the mashed potatoes were flavorless and dry turning into a hard solid mass in about 3-5 minutes into the meal. The Yorkshire pudding was darker than I prefer and was so tuff and chewy it was difficult to tear it apart with fork and knife. When I inquired about these 2 issues my server just returned with a dinner plate and another scoop of mashed potatoes on it, so I asked to see manager and when she got to my table immediately offered me 20% off my meal. I was a little confused and bewildered by being offered a discount right of the bat so I said "No, I'm not looking for money off I would just like my meal to be made right like it should." in my mind the it seemed like the kitchen made a mistake or got sloppy and didn't send out quality food for whatever reason. Unfortunately to my disappointment and quite frankly my surprise the manager explained that if I was to have another Yorkshire pudding or mashed potatoes brought out that they would be exactly the same as what I originally got. That everything is made in big batches before hand and nothing could be done. She also added the "baker" that makes the Yorkshire puddings had already gone home for the day. Maybe it's just me but I find Yorkshire pudding one of those things that should be made and served immediately. Mashed potatoes were in the same boat, they came out exactly the same flavorless dry and went hard after a few minutes.

The reason this rating is so low is because of the multiple hiccups that happened. The saving grace was the waitress that served my family and made sure we felt comfortable. The day my family came in we had to wait quite a bit to be served. Whether this was due to Covid staffing or somebody calling in sick the service was slow. At one point my sister and I went to use the facilities and as I was finishing up the handle to the toilet came away from it's tank. I could pull the handle away from the toilet tank in my hand. I could of walked over to a staff member with the handle in my hand. My sister went to tell a waitress she made it seem like she knew and that she did not do something about earlier. Either she forgot or got busy with work but it came across as lazy. The last and final thing that happened was when I was eating my burger. ( super delicious by the way) when I noticed a rubber finger cover on my plate. I was grossed out and got my fries remade because I don't know if my food was compromised or not. Luckily my burger it self was wrapped in tinfoil for I asked for lettuce wrap instead of a bun. Again the saving graces to this was the waitress who served my table for grandma's 80th birthday. There was eight of us and that is no easy feat. However! Being an put of town guest this experience shouldn't happen to your customers.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the employees were friendly and efficient. This location is part of the Best Western complex, and since we were lodging there we ate at Ricky’s twice. I had the homestyle turkey dinner which featured fresh turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetable medley, and cranberry sauce. While it tasted great, it was a very heavy meal because of the butter in the stuffing and mashed potatoes, plus lots of gravy. The second time I selected the Califresco salad. I loved the full chicken breast and salad, but I should have asked for a lower fat dressing as this also sat heavy partially due to too much fat (avocado, feta cheese, and salad dressing) as well as the portion being too large. I enjoyed the mini dessert of rhubarb crumble which I shared with my husband. Unfortunately, the food is rather heavy, most menu items are fried or heavily sauced, and it was a challenge to find lighter/healthier fare. Both times I had indigestion for hours afterward. It's too bad as it's convenient, but without a menu change we wouldn't return.

I am writing this post to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding the experience my group and I had at this establishment on Thursday, March 28th at 8:00 PM. The purpose of this letter is to bring to your attention the unacceptable behavior we encountered, including a rude and racist atmosphere, as well as poor service.

As a person of color (POC) and I am deeply disappointed by the treatment we received during our visit to this establishment. The behavior we encountered made our blood boil and left us feeling disrespected and marginalized. It is disheartening to experience such discrimination in a place that should be inclusive and welcoming to all customers.

One of the most distressing incidents occurred when we arrived and witnessed an argument among the staff members regarding who should serve our table. This not only delayed our service but also created an uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment. We waited for approximately 30 minutes without being served, which is an unacceptably long time to wait in any restaurant. We waited, without being served anything, then left.

Furthermore, the overall atmosphere was tainted by racist behaviour and a general lack of respect towards customers. For example, we were not served water during our time there and a non-POC was served water when he arrived after us. Or another example, our table was served after we left the established when a white family sat down after us.

This behavior is not only offensive but also goes against the principles of equality and fairness.

I feel compelled to bring this matter to the publics attention as it is important for this establishment to be aware of the incidents that occurred. It is crucial the staff at Ricky's country's restaurant, especially the management to take immediate action to address these issues and prevent similar incidents from happening in the future. It is disheartening for a POC to keep experiencing incidents in this world, especially where we believe an environment, like this, should make everyone, regardless of who they are, feel included and welcomed.

If the manager reads this, I kindly request that you investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate disciplinary actions against the staff members involved in the argument and any other individuals responsible for creating a racist and hostile atmosphere. Additionally, I urge you to implement measures to ensure that all staff members are trained in diversity, equality, and customer service to prevent such incidents from occurring again.

I believe that every customer deserves to be treated with respect and fairness, regardless of their background. I hope that by bringing this complaint to your attention, you will take the necessary steps to rectify the situation and improve the overall...

Zero Stars, Ricky's! Never going back! We started out waiting around 15 minutes at the front welcome desk, with no line up and being the only customers waiting, receiving only the occasional wave from a couple of servers to let us know they saw us but were evidently too busy to do anything about it. Then, finally one of the servers came along, a young guy, and to his credit apologized for the long wait, and took us to a table, dropped menus and immediately ran off. OK fine, he's busy, someone else will come by soon, we thought. Then we waited another 10 minutes and decided enough was enough, there's no service here, we're leaving. Right? Who wouldn't? However, ignoring us for around 25 minutes wasn't enough for one of the staff, they had to attempt to humiliate us on the way out by making a scene. A server, an older woman,, who by the way just started greeting another table that had just walked in long after my wife and I did, saw us standing up to leave (apparently that's how you get attention here) and quickly came over and she said they were very busy in the back with a large order and also running into computer problems but she would help us now. We said that was fine, maybe it's not personally your fault, but we were still leaving. The waitress then hustled over to a service station and grabbed water glasses for us and said from there, very loudly and dramatically for everyone around to hear, that the order they were busy with was for flood victims and we would be supporting the flood victims too by providing our patience. For a second I stopped and thought ... well I want to support flood victims, maybe we should stay, and then I realized - that was UTTER NONSENSE!! If we leave, we don't care about flood victims and we're also going to publicly shame you. You should be ashamed of yourself! If someone had told us when we arrived that you were unable to help new customers for 20-25 minutes because of that reason, we could have made the choice on our own to wait or not. But tell us on the way out after 25 minutes of ignoring us that we're basically heartless if we don't tolerate your restaurant's non-existent service because you are allegedly (and sounds like incompetently with your computer problems excuse) putting together an order for flood victims, and to loudly proclaim this publicly in an effort to pressure us to stay? This deserves a gold medal in the Poor Customer Service Olympics. It takes a very special person to attempt to pull that connection off. Instead, we had a fantastic meal with fantastic service at the Greek Islands restaurant on S. Fraser Way, and encourage everyone to go there instead. And not tolerating your terrible customer service, Ricky's, doesn't mean we don't care about the...

Zero star rating! If I could leave a negative one I would have!

I met my mom and sister here for lunch today. I decided to order the the eggs benedict with grilled tomatoes instead of hashbrowns. When the mean arrived the server said: "I think they might have overcooked the tomatoes and I might have to have them re-due them". I quickly checked and they were the consistency of mush, so I told her yes they would have to be redone. When I began to sample the eggs benedict I noticed it was cold; I thought, maybe it was just the outer part. As I took another bite I realized it was not just the outer edges, the meal was cold, and looking at the consistency of the sauce, it was obvious it had been sitting for a bit before being served. I moved the plate to the other side of the table, when the server came back with the newly grilled tomatoes, I informed her that the food was cold.

She took the food away, never appologized for it, never offered for me to order something else, nor did the manager stop by to acknowlege the mistake. I had ordered a tea which I was drinking until the bill arrived, and I was charged for the tea, no further comments by the server or offer to perhaps cover the price of the tea. It's not like I expect to get food and beverages for free but when a restaurant messes up an order, most places will try to rectify the mistake and do something to try to compensate for the error.

This experience has certainly left me with knowing I will never go back there again. I was very hungry after leaving. I could have asked the server to order another food item, but in my experience, the server has always offered to recify the situation and go out of their way to make up for a bad experience. On the way out the floor manager actually said have a good day!!.

For the price of food at this resaurant I could have easily gone to a chain restaurant like: Browns, Cactus Club for the same value but would have gotten great service and food quality as I have never had a bad experience at either of those...
